• Fortune made from oil
• Younger brother of the men who formed Phillips 66
• Formed his own oil company
• Dreamed of ranch life in the west
• Amassed over 300,000 acres
• Philanthropic, especially after selling his company
• Donated over 127,000 acres to the BSA to strengthen a boy’s character and physical growth
• Throughout his life, he gave away over half of his fortune

• Waite Phillips believed that top-notch adult training could take place at the donated facilities. • The summer of 1950 saw the beginning of what PTC is today.• The program took off when the PTC begin offering family program, in addition to adult training by top-notch leaders.

Mountain Treks- Backpacking expedition for 14-20 year olds. - Unique 5-day backcountry experience exclusive to PTC family program- Hiking itineraries are customized according to the skills of the individuals- Every night is spent at a staffed backcountry camp- Participants engage in the same activities as traditional treks
NAYLE (National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience)- A co-ed, outdoor-based training in leadership and teamwork for 14-20 year olds.- One week program at Rocky Mountain Scout Camp, the foothills of the Tooth of Time- Motivates participants to help others succeed through servant leadership- Encourages ethical decision-making based on the Scout Oath & Scout Law, using positive reinforcement, and practicing servant leadership throughout life.
