Founder’s Day Celebration
1. Vapi- 2nd December was celebrated as
Founder’s Day in honour of Late Shri.
G.R Goenka like blood donation, eye
check-up camp, senior citizens visit at
plant and family get together of
differently abled associates at plant.
2. Anjar- Classical dance by specially
abled workers of Welspun city on
‘Krishna- Radha’ and ‘Save the
Environment’ theme was performed at
Babuji’s Memorial in Anjar.
3. Mandya- Blood donation camp was
organized on 27th December under the
supervision of Apollo BGS Hospitals,
Mysore.
4. USA- Collected 75 presents and gift
cards for children with special needs at
Children’s Hospital in USA. They also
had put up Christmas Angel tree to
sponsor families of disabled children
5. Mumbai- Employees visited Jai Vakeel
Foundation, an Ngo working with
physically and mentally disabled
children and donated 50 hand towels
for them to embroider and thereby
contributed in providing them with
vocational opportunity.
On account of celebrating Founder’s Day, World Disability Day was
celebrated at different sites including Anjar, Vapi, Mandya, USA and

Education
1. Nurturing Knowledge Level of
Children in School:
Learning camps were organized in 5
schools of Anjar, Vapi and Dahej. A
baseline assessment of 388 students
was conducted (from standard 3rd to
5th). 156 children were identified to
have low levels of learning and are
provided with intervention to improve
their grasping power. On an average, 3
hours sessions are conducted every day
to nurture their reading and arithmetic
skills. Door to door visits are made to
ensure parents are aware of the child’s
performance in school.
2. Digital Interactive Education Program
Training to make classroom sessions
interactive through digital software is been
imparted to teachers of three government
primary schools at Vapi and Dahej. Basic
information on how to operate the
software, its features that make classroom
sessions fun- filled were introduced to
teachers in the training.
3. Parent’s Meeting
Parents’ meeting was organized at
Shantidham Primary School. The purpose of
the meeting was to discuss learning levels
of the children with their parents as well as
the school management. There was also a
discussion on what could be done to make
parents active in facilitating the library
activities. 40 parents attended the meeting.
4. Library Activities
Library activities were conducted in 13
villages targeting 623 students from
Std. 3rd to 8th. 95 parents and 69
volunteers facilitated the entire
process.

Empowerment
1. Sports Women Sponsorship Program
Sanjivani Jadhav, an international long distance runner who hails from a village near
Nasik is being sponsored by Welspun. In December 2017, Jadhav won a gold medal in
10,000 mt running at the All India University Games that took place in Guntur, Andra
Pradesh. She has clocked her personal best time - 33:14:16 minutes breaking meet
record.
2. Sanitary Napkin Unit
Aakar Innovation team from Mumbai had visited the centre at Vapi to examine the raw
material used in making napkins and plan strategies to improve the pad quality making
it user- friendly. Also, the market linkage plan in order to increase the sale of napkins
was discussed in the meeting.

Environment
1. Awareness Program - An awareness
program was organised at Lohariya village in
Anjar. The theme of the play was based on
fight against malnutrition in adolesent girls
& children and how can it be curbed using
home cooked food, imbibing healthy habits
& maintaining cleaniness around. The
villagers, Primary school students, teachers
and Sarpanch showed their active
participation in the play
2. RO Drinking water - A 500 LPH RO plant
was inaugurated at Khambhara village in
Anjar & 250 LPH Ro plant was provided at Vidi
Primary School. Approximately a population
of 200 at Khambhara village & 450 students
of Vidi Primary school will get benefit from
this initiative.
Health
1. Project Navchetana – Training with the volunteers was conducted in 10 villages of
Anjar and 5 villages of Vapi. Focused group discussion was conducted by the
volunteers with adolescent girls on ‘food items to be prepared at home to increase
their haemoglobin count’. Height and weight monitoring is done on regular basis of
0 to 5 years old children.

Model Village- Ajapar & Kharapaswariya
Education
English Learning Program- English classes in
primary schools of both the villages have
started from standard 5th to 8th. Total
students covered in the program are 200.
Basics like alphabets and numbers are being
taught to the students currently.
Empowerment
WFHK conducted a meeting with the
Gram Panchayat members of Ajapar
village. The DRDA and Mission Mangalam
team was also present for the meet to
give their inputs. The agenda for the
assembly was planning of solid waste
management and livelihood activity to be
conducted for the villagers.
Environment
1. Water tanker was provided in the villages
for sustainable plantation
2. Meeting with the village farmers was
conducted to discuss on the steps to be
taken for the cleanliness of their village.

Morai
Wish list received from the Principal for
development of primary school.
Important finding- Morai village is selected
under Smart Village scheme of
government of Gujarat. The copy of the
application is also procured.

Attended Gram Sabha and explained the
concept of Welspun’s model village program
