Please join us for a Graduate Information Session to explore the variousprograms available through the Department of Educational and CommunityPrograms (ECP) at Queens College.

Program Information

Counselor Education: The School Counseling (MSEd)and Mental Health Counseling (MS) programs preparegraduate students to serve as professional counselors inschools, and as mental health counselors in hospitals andcommunity agencies. The MSEd in School Counselingleads to New York State certification in school counseling(K-12) and the MS in Mental Health Counseling leads tolicensure as a mental health counselor in New York State.The bilingual specialization in school counseling offers aNYS Bilingual Extension.

Special Education:The Special Education programprepares teachers to work with children and youth withspecial education needs in schools and other communitysettings. We offer master’s degrees in Science ofEducation (MSEd) in Special Education at three agelevels: Early Childhood (Birth-2nd Grade), Childhood(Grades 1-6), and Adolescent (Grades 7-12). We alsohave a Special Education (MAT) program which leads todual certification in Childhood Education and SpecialEducation (Grades 1-6). Post-Master’s AdvancedCertification and board certified Behavior Analysistprograms are also available.

Educational Leadership: The School Building Leader(SBL) and School District Leader (SDL) Post-Master’sprograms prepare professionals to work in school settingsin a variety of roles such as principals, superintendents,and supervisors. Program completion leads tocertification in SBL and SDL. Our program also offers aNYS Bilingual Extension in Educational Leadership.

School Psychology: Our program prepares future schoolpsychologists to promote educationally andpsychologically healthy environments for all children andyouth through assessment, consultation, counseling, andintervention. The School Psychology program leads to anMS in Education and certification as a schoolpsychologist. A bilingual specialization is offered leadingto a NYS Bilingual Extension.
