Dear Member,
We welcome the new school year and want to share some of the interesting things going on with the Club.
In the previous newsletter, management mentioned that a survey would be sent out to you. The goal was to learn more about what events members would support and their likes and dislikes about the Club.
The survey was sent out electronically and with your May billing statement. The first 100 members that participated by returning their survey will be notified by e-mail sometime next month, informing you how to receive the free lunch that was promised. If you did not receive the survey, you need to notify us as soon as possible. The response rating was less than we had hoped. There were approximately 200 re-turned or less than 20% of those requested to participate. If we discover that many of the members did not receive the survey or that there are numerous incorrect email addresses, we will send the survey again. With that said, there is a good possibility that the trend lines will remain similar regardless of increased participation.
Based on the responses, 177 were in the like category, while 101 were in the dislike or suggesting change category. There were a few interesting comments on both sides of the “LIKE” about the club and “DISLIKE” about the Club. Thank you for all the flattering comments regarding the staff. There were far more positive statements praising the staff than any others made. Almost 60% of the respondents that listed what they liked about the Club, praised the food. However, there were approximately 31 % of the members that listed dislikes, mentioned the food or suggested changes regarding food.
Approximately 30% of those commenting about what they liked used the words: love, ambience, friendliness, and environment. In the dislike category, hours of operation and pricing each made up 20% and 20% respectfully. However, when asked as a question, “Would you like to see more evening hours offered at the Cub”, 70 responded “yes”, and 78 responded “no.”
Members were asked to indicate their level of interest in a variety of events. After compiling the responses the results are as follows: 910 Greatly, 1425 Somewhat, and 1744 Not at all. Clearly the results indicate that in order for an event to have success, members that re-sponded “Somewhat” have to be persuaded into the “Greatly” category.
The most frequent events that Members mentioned in the GREATLY category were in this order: Sunday Brunch and Seafood Nights.

Meet the Coaches, the Members Holiday Party and Jazz Night with fine dining followed by Cooking Classes, Game Watching events, Murder Mystery Dinners, Wine Pairing Dinners, and all the other events in the survey had less responses. The challenge that exists is that most of these events had a greater member response in the Not at all category.
What all this boils down to is, if members that responded “Greatly” will support the events and we can attract some of the members that responded “Somewhat”, management believes we will find success. So please read your newsletter diligently because the new season is going to start out with a BANG!!!!
Pub afternoon and evening hours will begin Wednesday, September 6th from 4 pm to 7 pm with an “All You Can Eat” menu in addition to the pub menu accompanied by discounted drink specials. Thursday hours will remain the same, and will offer a pub menu and discounted drink specials. However, in October the fun really begins. We will start a UofL Open Mic Night. This event will be for all the University Community to participate and or enjoy. We are in the process of working out the details and will have more info soon. Starting on Friday, September 15th, dinner music with a dinner and pub menu will be provided.
Sunday Brunch will be offered once a month starting with Grandparents Day September 10th. We will be tying in our second Sunday brunch with the St. James Art Fair October 8th. Watch for ticket stub discounts after the home football games. The first one will be offered after the Clemson game September 16th. We will be extending our Prime of Your Life buffet hour to 9 pm and offer a $5.00 discount to any member that has ticket stubs from the game and does not receive a free Birthday dinner.
Members who support the club operations at lunchtime have not been left out. Beginning September 5th we will offer $10 Tuesdays and $10 Thursdays. That’s right, you can order from the lunch menu or enjoy the express bar for an out the door price of $10.00, and this will include your favorite soft drink. Watch for our monthly theme. September will be Ethnic Food Month and October is Pork Month. Come in for lunch on Tuesday September 12th and receive a free milkshake with any food purchase.
There’s so much more to share. We will be communicating with you through the Newsletter, the Monday e-blast, and our University Club App. If you have not been receiving the e-blast please send us an updated e-mail address. You can scan the icon on the front cover and download the University Club App. We’re attempting to satisfy as many survey requests as possible and hope you will support the new offerings. Please continue to share your thoughts.
Kind Regards,Bill

We are attempting to fulfill the request of those members who would like
some extended hours. We will start the sea-son by opening the Pub from 4pm to 7pm Wednesday through thru Friday. Each after-noon and evening will feature something different. Wednesdays there will be an all you can eat and Pub menu offered, accom-panied by discounted beverages. Thursdays in September will offer the pub menu and discounted drinks. Starting Friday, September 15, a dinner and Pub menu will be available, accompanied by musical entertainment.
One of our primary vendors has provided us with a food calendar celebrat-ing monthly themes. For example, Sep-tember is Ethnic food and October is Pork month. Then there are menu items sugges-tions for specific days such as pizzas, milk-shake, donuts and pancakes. We think this will be a nice addition.
