Always tried to impress others with his money & power
Henry, was athletic, very intelligent
Henry VIII Had to impress people with his money (Fields of
Gold) Convinced other nobles to work with him, not
against the monarchy-they were well paid England was in a stable position and respected in
Europe. Henry VII kept England out of major European
conflicts & arranged the marriage of his other son (Arthur) to the princess of Spain, Catherine of Aragon
Catherine of Aragon Henry’s 1st Wife Had 4 miscarriages
before giving birth to a male who died 7 weeks later (1511)
Gave birth to a girl, Mary in 1516
Henry wanted to divorce her, but the Pope would not allow it
Anne Boleyn 1529-Henry cut ties with
the Catholic Church and married Anne Boleyn
Anne had two miscarriages.
Henry tired of her and in April 1536 she was accused of committing adultery with 5 men, including her own brother.
Anne and the five men were all executed in May 1536
What Henry VIII Believed God had had created society as it was and that
this society should not change or be challenged Women were inferior to men Those who were born into poverty were there
because that was the way God ordained it to be The social order of England had to be maintained
at all costs Leading a joyful, fun life was expected of the king
