Avendorhasbeennarroweddowntoprovideonline enrollmentindirectdepositforA/P(studentrefunds)andpayroll.Wearecurrentlyworkingontheprogrammingdetailsbeforeforwardingacontracttolegalcounselforreview.Ifapprovedthroughtheadministration,targetcompletionisstillfall2012,beforethespringsemesterbegins.

Excellence ProvideonlineaccesstoadditionalBannerPayrollinformationalformstocampususers.

Onlinecampustrainingasbeenenhancedandupdatedon myGateHELPtabAdministrative/ProceduresPayrollcategoryforLeaveandTimereporting.ThiswasdoneinApril2012.Onlinetraininghasbeendevelopedforotherbannerformsthatwillassistdepartmentswithmonitoringpositionnumbers,PAformstatus,andvacationtimebalances.Formsforenrollingforthisaccessisexpectedtobecompletedanddistributedtothecampusbythetargetcompletionofsummer2012(mid‐July).

Innovation IncreaseJuniorandSeniorstudents'ACTTestScoresinMathandSciencebecauseoftheiractiveparticipationinanewtestprepprogram.

93%ofAIMSJuniorsandSeniorsHighSchoolstudentswhotooktheACTTestbyDecemberof2012improvedtheirscoresinMathandScienceReasoningby10%overtheirlastyearsscore.

Partnerships EstablishconnectionswithtargetareaChurchesandBoysandGirlsClubstoassistwithrecruitmentofstudentsfortheProgram.

TheAIMSprogramconnectedwiththreenewcommunityorganizationsforthe2011‐2012recruitmentcycle.TheorganizationsweretheBoysandGirlsClubofPaducah,KY;WashingtonStreetBaptistChurchofPaducah,KY;andtheAdultLearningCenterofMurray,KY.Theagencieswereinstrumentalinmakingconnectionswithfamiliesthathadeligiblehighschoolstudentsintheirvariouscommunities.Ourprogramstaffwereabletosetuprecruitmentpresentationsandpostprogrammaterialintheirfacilities.

Innovation

CreateaStudentAlumniAssociationorganization.

Objective:Developandutilizeaselectedgroupofstudents forpurposesrelatedtoalumnifunctionalitybothonandoffcampus.Achieved:Researchofotheruniversitiesandestablishedroles.Recruitedandinterviewedstudentswithselectionof20studentstoformStudentAlumniBoard(SAB)byJanuary2012.SABmembersattendednationalconferenceforadditionalideas/networking.Participatedinevents/activitiesthroughoutcampusduringspringsemester.Nextsteps:RecruitadditionalstudentsforStudentAlumniAssociation(SAA)beginningJune1,2012withgoalof250studentsinvolvednextyear.Continuetoparticipateineventsoncampusandinteractwithalumni.

Partnerships PartnerwithOfficeofDevelopmentfor"RacerRoundups"Legacyevents.

Athletics Innovation ThroughpartnershipwithOVC,orunilaterally,upgradequalityandincreasequantityofdepartmentsweb‐streamingofsportingevents.

Equipmentpurchasedtobuildplatformfordigitalquality broadcaststobeginin2012‐13.Trainingwilloccurduringsummer,2012.Allsoccer,volleyball,football,men'sbasketball,andwomen'sbasketballhomeandconferencegameswerebroadcastduring2011‐12meeting15%increasetarget.

Excellence UpgradeathleticfacilitiestoensurecompetitivebalancewithfellowOVCmembersandregionalrivals.

Constructionunderwayfornewmen'sandwomen's basketballpracticefacilitytobecompletedbyJanuary,2013.Fundingidentifiedandplanningunderwaytorelocatesoftballcomplextocampuslocationnexttostadium.Silentphaseofbaseballfund‐raisingcampaigncontinuesasplanned.

Innovation Implementutilizationofnewtechnologiestoimprovecustomerrelations,communication,andqualityassurance.

1.KeyinstrumentshavebeensuccessfullyinterfacedtotheLaboratoryInformationManagementSystem(LIMS).Improvesaccuracyandtimetoreporting.2.TheBVCdevelopedaFacebookpagetodisseminateinformationtoreferringveterinarians,livestockandpetowners.3.TheBVCsuccessfullyimplementedtechnologytoprovideonlineaccesstoreportsandbillpayment.

Excellence GreenInitiative TheBVCControlsProjectisinthefinalphaseof implementationtoincreaseenergyefficiencybyreplacingexistingthermostats,controlboxes,andinstallnewsystemcontrols.TheControlsProjectwillimproveenvironmentaltemperaturecontrolinlaboratoryareasandprovidethecapabilityforoff‐sitemonitoringduringoffhours.

1.PresidentDunn,PresidentWilliamsandDeanVanHorn metatleastthreetimesthisyear.2.PresidentWilliamshasmovedourofficestothegroundflooroftheadministrationbuilding,inaverystudentcenteredarea.3.HCCstaffandMSUstaffcooperatedvigorouslytomoveMSUintotwolargerandbetterspacesforITVlabs(givingusfourlabs).HCCstaffcooperatedfullyinaccommodatingnotonlyITVneeds,butvisitingprofessors,andtheMBAcadre.4.MSUtransfercenterstaffheldaspringfairusingHCCspace.Itwasasuccessfulrecruitingevent,withinexcessof20newstudents.HCCprovidedMSUtransferstranscriptsatnofee.5.Asaportionofco‐minglingfunds,MSUcontributedanexcessof$7,000toanewsignatthemainentranceofthecampusbearingMSUbrandingalongsideHCC.Asecondentrancesignisplannedfornextyear,ofwhichweplantoparticipate.

CenterforContinuingEducationandAcademicOutreach‐Hopkinsville

Innovation Raiseawarenessabout MSUHRCwithinthecommunityandregionbytakingadvantageofuniqueeventhostingandsponsorshipopportunities.

InNovemberandDecemberMurrayState‐Hopkinsville sponsoredandhostedasix‐weekScienceAcademyforgiftedandtalentedstudentsintheCCPS.ThescienceacademywasthefirstofitskindinChristianCounty.MSU‐HsponsoredtheRegionalEducationSummitheldatHopkinsvilleCommunityCollegeinFebruary.MSU‐HsponsorstheCCPSandWorkforceEducationDevelopment'spartner'sinEducationProgrambyprovidingmentoringandotherstudent‐centeredservicestostudentsatMartinLutherKingElementary.MSU‐Hprovidedover35student,facultyandstaffvolunteerstotheschoolforthe2011‐12schoolyear.MSU‐HwillsponsortheTeacherAppreciationBreakfastinAugust2012whichwillbeattendedbyapproximately700K‐12teachersinChristianCounty.MSU‐HcontributestotheChristianCountyRotaryScholarsfundbysponsorshipsduringtheannualrotaryauctioneachApril.

Innovation CE/AOwillworkwith FacilitiesManagementtodesignandstartconstructiononthenewMSURegionalCampusCenterinPaducah.

ThedeanofContinuingEducationandAcademicOutreach has workedwiththeFacilitiesManagementOfficeandMr.KimOatmanthroughouttheprocessofarchitectselection,sitework,planningandbuildingdesign,groundbreaking,andotherconsiderationsforthebuilding.WeeklymeetingshavebeenconductedsinceJan.2012forthiswork.

Innovation TheTransferCenterwill makerecommendationstoDeans&ProvostformajortransferpoliciesandprocedurestosubmittoAcademicCouncil.Theserecommendationswillbeinnovatedandforwardthinkingintermsoftraditionalpolicyandprocedurefollowed.TherecommendationswillputMSUoutinfrontintermsofeaseoftransferabilityandaheadofotherinstitutions.

TheTChasworkedwithTracyRobertsandtheRegistrar's Officebysubmittingalistofrecommendedchangestosimplifystudents'abilitytotransfertoMSU.Theplanisto"jointly"submitthislistwiththeRegistrar'sOfficetoacademiccouncilintheearlyfallof2012.

Partnerships TransferCenterwill workwiththefourregionalcampusestodevelopcomprehensivepartnershipagreementsdetailingthenatureofrelationshipsandcooperationofthecommunitycollegesandMSUasitrelatestotransferring,howthecommunitycollegeworkswithregionalcampusesintheircommunities,andthesharingoffacilities.

Adrafthasbeensharedwiththreeoftheregional communitycollegesfortheirconsideration.Atthistime,they'rereviewingthosedrafts.

Innovation Developprocessesandimplementtheuseofvirtualdesktopsforadministrativeusersandsupporttheadoptionacrossthecampuscommunity.

Wehavehad4stationsintheISdepartment,1inthe Provostarea,25intheGatehouseTrainingroom,10intheRegistrarsarea,16intheWeaverCenterforStudentAthletesand20machinesrunninginaclassroomenvironmentforatotal76machinesoutsidestudentlabs.Wehaveseennomajorproblemsinanyoftheseareas.

Partnerships BuildaworkingrelationshipwithfacultyfromallcollegesandschoolstoutilizetheservicesofthenewInstructionalDevelopmentCoordinatortoensureimprovedcoursedesignanddeliveryforallstudents.

OurnewInstructionalCoordinatorhasbeeninvolvedin3 majoreventsattendedby147facultymembersrepresenting18academicdepartments.Shehasalsoconducted18uniquespecializedworkshopsattendedby256facultymembersrepresenting26departmentsandgiven5separatepresentationsattendedbyatotalof335faculty.Individualfacultyconsultationshavebeenheldwith30uniquefacultymembersrepresenting30uniquedepartments.Alloftheseeffortshaveresultedincontactwithaaggregatetotalof668facultyfrom74academicdepartments.ThesetotalsreflecttheneedforthepositionoftheInstructionalDevelopmentCoordinatorpositionandthedesireforimprovedteachingskillsbythecadreoffacultyatMSU.

CenterforTSM Innovation Move2ormoreresearchproductstothecommercialmarketplace.

Threeresearchproductshavemadeprogresstowardcommercialization.TheMITOCcommunicationscapabilitybecamethefirstresearchproducttobegrantedaproductlicensefromtheUniversity.MurrayStatesignedanagreementwithPrepartedITinOctober2011tocommercializetheMITOC.TheResponderLinkproductreceiveda$50,000grantfromtheKentuckyScienceandTechnologyCorporation(KSTC)tomoveittowardcommercialization.ThegrantwillbecompletedpriortoSeptember30,2012.A$75,000grantwasreceivedfromKSTCtohelpcommercializetheFlyableRadioRepeater.ThisgrantwillbecompletedbyMarch31,2013.

Partnerships ExpandthenumberofcompaniesthatcontributetotheTSMprogramandgovernmentagenciesthatassistwithresearchprojects.

TheTSMprogrammaintainedrelationshipswithfivemajorcorporatedonors.Thesedonorssupportedscholarships,providedequipmentdonationsandadditionalcashdonationstosupportouractivities.Additionally,fourothercorporateorganizationscontinuedfinancialsupportfortheprogram.FournewcorporationsandprofessionalassociationsprovidedfinancialsupportforTSMactivitiesduringthisyear.Thenumberoforganizationscontributingtoourprogramincreaseasdidthetotalvalueofthecontributions.

Innovation Completephasetwoof theimplementationofVirtualDesktopSolutionsfortargeteddesktopcomputersacrosscampus.

Thissummer,wearepermanentlyconvertingmostofthe labsovertoVDI,foratotalof71machines.Theonlycentrallabthatwillstayatraditionaldesktoplabisthelibrary(60machines).IssuesunrelatedtothecostorfunctionalityoftheVDIconfigurationdrovethatdecision.Verbaladhocfeedback,aswellassurveys,havebeencompleted,tabulatedandgraphed.Wehaveexceededourtargetof10pilotadministrativeusers.Additionaladministrationsinstallationsarescheduledforthissummer.

Partnerships Buildonthepartnership withNorthernKentuckyUniversitytorefineourDisasterRecoverysolution.

TheDRteamisutilizingmultipledatabackupstrategies to driveourrecoverypointlower.Currentlywearelookingata4hourrecoverypointforallbutasmallwindowoftimewheretherecoverypointwouldbelongerduetomonthlypatching.TheDRteamisstillworkingonimprovingourrecoverytime,andcurrentlywebelieveittolessthan1day.Thefunctionalusertestplannedforsummer2012willprovidethefirstevaluationofouruserdocumentation.

CollegeofBusiness

Innovation FundsubscriptionsforBloombergFinancialterminals.

TheseterminalswillbeusedintheStateFarmFinancial ServicesResourceCenter,aswellasforteachingandresearchpurposesintheDept.ofEconomicsandFinance,theCollegeofBusinessandtheLibrary.Theeducationaldiscountallowsustopurchasethreeyearlysubscriptions(at$60,000peryearforthe3)andreceiveanadditional9terminals...atotalof12terminalsfor$60,000peryear.Theseterminalswillnotonlyenhancestudentlearning,butwillalsoenhancefacultyresearchandwillgreatlyassistfacultyrecruitingintheDepartment.Inaddition,familiaritywithBloombergwillbeabenefittoourstudentsastheygraduateandbegintheircareers.Thiswillcertainlyopendoorsforourstudentsthatmaynotnowbeavailable.Inaddition,thissubscriptionwilldistinguishMurrayState,whichwillbeoneofthreeUniversitiesintheCommonwealthwiththiscapability.TheCollegeandDept.arecommittedtousingfoundationmoney,aswellasraisingoutsidedollarstohelpwiththecostofthissubscription.ThegoalwouldbetohaveBloombergavailableforthestartofclassesintheSpringof2012.Status:ThisisstillapriorityfortheDept.andCollege...otherfundingsourcesarebeingexaminedalongwithotherphilanthropicsources.Therecurringresourcestreamisproblematicthough.

Excellence EnsureappropriateprocessesinplaceregardingAACSBaccreditation,ACEJMCaccreditation,andtheCOB'sroleinSACSaccreditation.

Ensureanactiveroleforallthreeaccreditations,particularly AACSBwiththeself‐studyreportsrollingthisyeartobesentFall,2012withvisitinSpring,2013andSACS(andtheCOBroleinthat)withself‐studyreportsrollingthisyearandnext,withvisitSpring,2014.ManyintheCOBareinvolvedinbothoftheseaccreditationeffortsandwillcontinuetobeinvolvedensuringsuccess.Status:Accreditationsareingoodshape.TimToddandGerryMuukavisitedwithDeanLindaHadley(ColumbusStateUniversityinGeorgia)lastFall.Thishalf‐daymeetingwasveryproductiveinprovidingDeanHadleyanoverviewforherpendingvisitassheisthechairofouraccreditationteam.Additionally,inJMC,thehiringofanAfricanAmericanfacultywillbesolidlyendorsedbyACEJMCasthiswasanareanotedintheSpring,2010visitinChicagowhenre‐accreditationwasachieved.And,faculty/staffinvolvedintheSACSprocesshavebeenengagedinnumerousreportsandmeetings.Fromthisunderstandingandfeedback,progressisbeingmade.

Innovation IncreaseCollegegrantproductionby10%toprovideoutsidefundstopromoteCollegeinnovationandadditionalCollegeservicestothecommunity.

Overall,grantdollarswerenotincreasedby10%.Thetotal grantdollarsfor2010‐11was$1143,225,whileforthisyearthetotalwasamuchreduced$665,219.Thereductionisduetothelossofseveralstategrants.TheseincludetheGEARUPgrantwheretheCPEfailedtoincludewesternKentuckyinthecontract,thelossofthestatemiddleschoolgrant,andthelossoftheFirstSteps.Thelasttwowerebothstategrantsthatwerenotrenewedbecauseofoverallstatebudgetreductions.Theselosseswillnotbereplacedthroughstatefundingsources,butwillrequireextensivesearchestoseekfederalandprivatesources.

Excellence ImprovePLTscorestomakeprogressinmeetingCPEgoalof18%by2014.

TheCollegeofEducationmettheCPEgoalof18%of studentsscoringatthe85thpercentileonthePLTexam.The18%forthePLTscoreswillneedtobemaintainedsomeasurestoimprovescoreswillremaininplace.

CollegeofHealthSciences&HumanServices

Innovation CreateaformalHSHSinterdisciplinarycommunityofscholars.

Objective/Timeline:Generateatleastthree interdisciplinaryresearchprojectsthatwillbegindatacollectionduringtheSpring2012semester.Twoprojectsareinprogress,butareabouttwomonthsbehindthetimeline.TheHSHSGoogleDocsplatformhasbeenusedtokeepeveryoneapprisedofprogressandtoinviteotherstoparticipate.1.AcollaborativeprojectincludingDrs.Kleinhans,Chakradhar,andMulleronteamclimateandmultigenerationalisminacademiaisprogressing.Theliteraturereviewiscomplete,thedatacollectioninstrumentshavebeenselectedandtheIRBpaperworkisreadytomoveforward.DatacollectionwillcommenceonceIRBapprovalisgranted.2.TheproposalforaninterdisciplinaryprojectinvolvingDrs.Campbell,Dodd,andMuller(ExerciseScience),andDr.Rice(Nutrition)examiningtheinfluenceofa6‐weekinterventionondiet,exercise,andbodyimageamongoverweightgirlsaged11‐15yearsisreadyforIRBapproval.

SupporthasbeenprovidedtothedepartmentofIETinitsElectromechanicalEngineeringTechnologyprograminformingapartnershipwithregionalcommunitycolleges(primarilyMadisonvilleCC)tofacilitatethedevelopmentofon‐linecurriculumandincreasethenumberoftransferstudentstotheBSprogramatMSU.Thecurriculumwillincludeacombinationoflivedeliveryon‐sitealongwithdistance‐basedcourses.AdditionalpartnershipswithCC'sinTennesseeandIndiana,aswellaswith4‐yrinstitutionsareenvisionedastheprogramdevelops.Inthisfirstyear,emphasisisonhiringafull‐timelecturerforprogramdevelopmentanddelivery.AfacultylinehasbeensecuredfromthePresident'sofficeinsupportofthisinitiative.Asearchhasbeenconducted,withnoqualifiedcandidates.Thesearchhasbeensuspendedandwillbereopenedinthefall,asacandidatehasbeenidentifiedwhoisabletobegininJanuary,2013.Curriculumdevelopmentistakingplaceatthistime,andtheprogramwillbeputinplaceinthespring2013semester.

Lastyearthedepartmentwasresponsiblefortwopublic talks(thefirstatConstitutionDay,wherewebroughtintheChairoftheJudiciaryCommitteeoftheKentuckyHouseofRepresentatives,andthesecondwastheWaterfieldLecture,wherewebroughtinthePresidentoftheAmericanBarAssociation).Weneedmoneytobringinoutsidespeakers.Becauseofthiswehavestartedtolooktospeakerswhomaybeinterestingtootherdepartments.IntheFallof2012wearejoiningwithHistorytobringinanoutsidespeaker,whowillgiveageneraleveningtalk,butalsovisitHistory,PoliticalScience,andSociologyclasses.Wehavenotyetsetupadepartmentcolloquium,partlybecauseofthetimepressuresinourdepartment(wehadanumberofjobcandidatesinthisyear).Thisdoesnotseemtobeapressurewhichwillbelowernextsemester.However,wediddiscussorganizingaSocialSciencecolloquiumwithsomeoftheotherSocialSciencedepartmentsinourcollege.Also,weorganizedtwoundergraduatepanelsatScholar'sWeekthisyear,upfromonepaneloverthelastcoupleofyears.

Innovation Thedepartmentwillattempttofindwaystoallowfacultymoretimetodoresearch&writing.Innovative(new)scholarshipatanenhancedlevelwillresult.

Twelvefacultygavepresentationsontheirnewresearch duringacademicyear2011‐12attheDepartmentofHistoryResearchForum.Thisisupfrom2010‐11wheneightfacultygaveresearchpresentations.Everyfacultymemberwhoneededdepartmentdiscretionaryfundingtosupportresearchtravelwasfunded.Thisamountedtotenfaculty.ProfessorsPizzoandCallahan,needingtocompletepeer‐reviewedarticlesforpublicationbeforetheirtenureyearin2012‐13,wereabletosuccessfullycompletetheseinnovativepublications.TheStrieterHistoryFacultyResearchAward,establishedinMay2011,andwhichwillbefullyendowedinsummer2012,willeventuallyenablefacultytohavecoursereleasetimetocarryontheirscholarlyresearch.

ArecentarticleintheChronicleofHigherEducationfocused ontheimperativeofstudentslearningtheskillssetsvaluedbyindustry.Indevelopingcoursecontenttodeliversuchvalue,wemustfocusourresourcesonthecorrectareasifwearetostrengthenandnurturetheregionweserve.Thearticlecitedaboveprovidesanexample(SnapOnTools)whichclearlypointstotheneedforfosteringrelationshipsthataremorediscipline‐based,asopposedtogeneral.Thedevelopmentofdiscipline‐basedspeakersbureauisagoodtoolforbuildingpersonalrelationshipsamongfaculty,alumniandareabusinesses.Uponwordthatthisgoalhasbeenselected,thefollowingactivitieswilltakeplace(andthusmakeuptheprogressreport'scontent):facultyliaisonchosen(apointpersonformanagingcontacts);developmentofmarketingmaterialstorecruitspeakersandtoshowcaseourareasofexpertise,databaseforcontactingsourcesofpotentialspeakerse.g.,(alumni,localbusinesses,professionalassociations);facultypresentationstolocalgroups,speakerswhoaddressedstudentgroups,classes,etc.Thisinnovationcantieusmorecloselytogetherwithentitiesinourserviceregionand,throughouralumni,beyond.Status:Thisprojectwasnotpursuedasnonewfundingwasidentified.

Foundingof“MSU ToastmastersClubattheCollegeofBusiness”

Toastmasterschartersrequireaminimum20members.The planforfoundingtheclubwillbeginbycreatingafoundingteam(1or2facultyclubsponsors)uponwordthatthegoalhasbeenselected.Duringthefirstsemesterafterthissponsorswilldevelopmarketingmaterialsandprogramsforgeneratingawarenessofthenewclubideatoprospectivemembers.Also,Toastmastersprovidesexpertiseingettingnewclubsofftheground.Forexample,clubmentorsareappointedbytheToastmastersdistrictgovernor.Theyprovideguidanceduringthefirstsixmonthstooneyearofthenewclub'sexistence.ThesementorsareexperiencedToastmasterswhomayevenjointhenewclub.Inourprogressreports,wewillnotematerialsdevelopedformarketing;datesonwhichplanningmeetingswereheldandrecruitingpresentationsweregiven;namesofclubfacultysponsorsandmentors;numberofcontactsmade,membershipleveltodate,andscheduledclubactivities.Status:Thisprojectwasnotpursuedasnonewfundingwasidentified;however,thechairandfacultyproponentwillexaminethisintheFall,2012andtrytoseekotherfunding/resourceopportunitiestobeginthisproject.

Thirty‐threehighschoolsinWesternKentuckyareinvolved inthisproject.Thisprojectwillaidhighschoolstudentsby(a)showingthemwhatcourseworkinMathematicsisnecessaryfortheirdegreeofinterest,(b)listingtheprerequisiteknowledgeandplacementscoresnecessaryforthosecourses(aswellasthecoursedescriptions),and(c)providingadvisinginformationaboutthesequenceinwhichtotakethecourses.Thisprojectwillaidthesestudentsaswellbyprovidingtheirteacherswith(i)thepreciselearningoutcomesandcoursecontentfora4th‐yearTransitionscoursethatcouldtakethemtocollegereadinessinMathematicsupontheirhighschoolgraduation,and(ii)assistancewithfreeplacementtestingtopre‐certifythestudentascollegereadyinMathematicsforanypost‐secondaryinstitutioninKentucky.Finally,for5schoolsinneed,studenttextbookswerepurchasedforuseinfulfillingitem(i)aboveandthereforehelpingtheirstudentsbecomecollege‐readyinMathematics.Eachofthe33highschoolsintheregionreceivedthefollowingpacket:*ThestatewideStudentLearningOutcomesofthetwoDevelopmentalMathematicscourses(onebeingaprerequisitetoaliberalartsmathematicscourse,forthosestudentswhodonothaveatleastaMathACTof19;theotherbeingaprerequisiteforCollegeAlgebraforthosestudentswhodonothaveatleastaMathACTof22).*Onecopyofthetextbookthatwe(MurrayState)areusingforthosetwocourses.*

Aportion ofthe implementation ofthisgoaldepended upon followingadirectivefromtheAdvisingSubcommitteeofthePresidentsCommissiononRetentionandGraduation. SincethatCommissiondidnotreceivefurtherapprovaltomoveforwardonitsissues,suchadirectivewasnotgiven. Thus,wedecidedtowaitondepartmentdiscussionsofadvisinguntilwehadanofficialdirective(ratherthanspendenergyandfindoutthatourtargetwasnotthesameasthatoftheSubcommittee). Wedid,however,discusshowwecouldbetteradvisewithinourpresentadvisingsystem. WealsoworkedtowardbetterinforminghighschoolstudentsoftheMathematicsintheirfuturecollegecareer.Progresstowardmeetingthisgoal:We(i)developedgeneric4‐yearadvisingsheetsforthevariousprogramsinourdepartment;(ii)discussedtheinformalsequencingofcertainclassesinthemajorforwhichthereisnotprerequisitesequencingandhavemadealladvisorsawareofthispreferredsequencing;(iii)developedadvisingsheetsforallenteringFreshmen(andtheiradvisors)whichindicate(baseduponthecoursestheyneedfortheirmajorandtheircurrentplacementstatus)whichcoursesthatstudentsshouldfirstregisterin;theseadvisingsheetsalsoindicatetheflowofMathematicscourseworkwhichfollowthisfirstcourse,andtheyalsodrawattentiontothenewKYOTEplacementtesting;(iv)postedthesematerialsonourdepartmentwebpageunder"AdvisingInformation",aswellasontheBlackBoardMSUAdvisingshell;(v)madeavailabletoMathematicsteachers.

Innovation TheDepartmentofMusicwillprepare andpresentamusicrecruitingshow(“RecruitmentExtravaganza”)fortheRacerMarchingBandtotaketohighschoolsandspecialHSevents(marchingshows,statemusiceducationconferences,etc.);linkedtoMusicDepartment’snewin‐statetuitionscholarshipforout‐of‐statemusicstudents.Bonus:WiderexposureofMurrayStateUniversityinregionalmarkets;attractsallmajors,notjustmusicmajors.

Thisgoaldidnotgetoffthegroundinitsoriginalformdue tolackoffunding.ItisimpossibletomovetheRacerMarchingBandwithoutalargetravelbudget.Initsplace,thedepartmentdidallocateasignificantamountofmoney($28,000)fortherecruitingeffortsofindividualfacultymembers,smallerensembles,andtwomajortrips‐‐theConcertChoirtoMemphisandtheJazzOrchestratoSt.Louis.Wecandocumentadirectcorrelationbetweentheschoolsvisitedandthenumberofapplicantsfromthoseschools.Toachievemoredirectcontactswithprospectivestudents,wearegoingtoneedthefundingfortravel.

Excellence InordertoattractalargergroupofstudentstotheMusicBusinessdegreeatMSU,theDepartmentofMusicwillcreateanewdegreetrackthatdoesnotrequireanentrancemusicaudition.Thatis,studentsapplyingtotheprogramwillbeacceptedonthebasisofGPAandACT/SATscores,notonmusicalability.Whilethisopensthedoortomorestudents,italsonecessitatesmusicinstruction(basicmusictheorycourses,basicpianoclasses,expandingmusicalstylesinperformanceandliterature)forthosestudentsnotseekingtraditionalmusicstudyascurrentlyofferedinthedepartment.Inadditiontotheincreaseinnewstudents,thenewcourseswouldprovidemoreoptionsfornon‐musicmajorparticipationinbasicmusicstudyandwouldpavetheway.

Anewdegreeprogram,aB.S.inMusicBusiness,hasbeen created,proposed,approvedbyMSU'sAcademicCouncil,andisnowservingitstimeontheCPEwebsite.Newclassescreated(andapproved)forthisnewdegreeincludea2‐semesterpianoclass(MUS124‐125),a4‐semesterMusicianshipsequence(MUS109‐110,209‐210),andanEntrepreneurshipclass(MUS440).ThenewdegreecouldbeofferedassoonasSpring2013.Fornow,classesarecoveredbyexistingfaculty.Astheprogramgrows,newfacultywillbeneeded.

Thenew"RacerOralCommunicationCenter"(fundedbyDr. JessieD.Jones)openedinOctober2011.Prof.PattyParishhasservedastheCenter'sdirector(withaonecoursereduction).DuringF‐11,theCenter'sstaffofonegraduateassistantandfivestudent"consultants"provided114consultationshelpingfellowundergraduateandgraduatestudentsprepareandpracticeforavarietyofpresentations.InSp‐12,theCenterprovided234consultationstostudentsfromeachofthefivecollegesandtwoschools.TheCenterhasbeenhighlysuccessfulandwillrequireadditionalconsultantstomeetthegrowingdemand.

TheacceleratedMSinOrganizationalCommunicationin Madisonvillehasbeensuccessful.WerecruitedduringtheF‐11semesterandenrolled14newgraduatestudents.Although14islessthanourgoalof20newgraduatestudents,thiscohorthighlyappreciatesoureffortstobring"live"graduateinstructiontoMadisonville.TheywillgraduateinMay,2013.

DepartmentofPsychology

Innovation Developasocialmediastrategy,primarilyfocusedonuseofFacebook,tohelptheDepartmentofPsychologypromoteitsprograms,enhanceitsalumnirelations,andimproverecruitmentinitiatives.

Facultyparticipatedinactiveuseofsocialmedia,especially Facebook,toincreaseawarenessoftheactivitieswithinthePsychologyDepart.InformationregardingactivitiesofPsychologyClubandPsiChiwerefeaturedaswellasupdatesonaccomplishmentsofourstudentsandfaculty,opportunitiesforstudentparticipationindepartmentalactivities,andnoticesaboutdeadlinesforstudents.Facultyoftenpostedabouteitherrecentpresentationsorpublicationstohelpstudentslearnmoreaboutongoingactivitiesandopportunitiesavailabletotheminthedepartment.UseofFacebookallowedthedepartmenttocommunicatewithcurrent,potential,andformerstudents.

Excellence Expanddepartmentalpresenceatregional/nationalacademicconferences.

Toenhanceresearchamongbothstudentsandfacultyand increaseprofessionalcollaborationsbetweenthesegroupsofindividuals,twoconferenceswereidentifiedthisyearinwhichdepartmentalparticipationwasencouraged.GroupsoffacultyandstudentsattendedandpresentedscholarshipconductedatMSUbothattheKentuckyPsychologicalAssociation'sAnnualAcademicConferenceandthenationalmeetingoftheAssociationforPsychologicalScience.Facultyandstudentparticipationinthesemeetingsfosteredasenseofcommunitywithinthedepartment,withstudentsandfacultyparticipatinginattendingresearchtalksandpresentingresearchtogether.Theseeventsalsoencouragedmoredirectedresearchprojectsbyourundergraduatesandfurtherencouragedasenseofprofessionalidentityassocialscientistsamongourmajors.Attendance,especiallyattheKPAconference,alsoprovidedanopportunityforrecruitingforourtwograduateprograms.

Innovation Toestablishasubstanceabusecertificateprogram.

ThisgoalwastoestablishanundergraduateCertificateinSubstanceAbusethatwouldcomplementboththeSocialWorkandCriminalJusticeProgramsaswellassomeunitsintheDepartmentofWellnessandTherapeuticSciences.TheDirectoroftheSocialWorkProgram,Dr.Pittman‐Munkeandherstaffhaveworkedongettingthisprogramofftheground,butthefinalpiecesarenotyetfullyinplace.SomeadjustmentshavetobemadeintheoriginalplaninlightofthereorganizationoftheCollegeofHealthSciencesandHumanServices.ItwilltakeabitmoretimetointegratetheSocialWorkProgram(includingtheproposedCertificateOfSubstanceAbuse)intothenewDepartmentofCommunityLeadershipandHumanServices.

Outreach Programthatwouldinvolvethecampuscommunityandsurroundingareas.Inthespringof2012,theDepartmentofSocialWork,CriminalJusticeandGerontologyandtheCollegeofHealthSciencesandHumanServicessponsoredalecturebyIslamicImamfromTennessee.Thelecturewasverywellattendedandbasedonanumberofindicators,itseemstohavebeenwellreceivedbytheaudience—thevastmajorityofwhichwerestudents.Weanticipatecontinuingthislectureseriesintheupcomingacademicyear.

Innovation Initiate“TheatreStudyThroughExperience”(TSTE).TheDepartmentwillsendstudentsandfacultytoaregionalhighschoolforahands‐onseriesofworkshopsandrehearsalsthatwillculminateinaperformanceincludingbothcollegeandhighschoolstudents.

ThepilotprogramforthisgoalwilltakeplaceSeptember7‐9 of2012.TherewereinsufficientfundsavailableattheDepartmentleveltopursuethisgoalduringthe11‐12academicyearbecauseitwasscheduledfortheendofthesemesterinMayof2012.Hopefully,placingthiseventatthebeginningoftheacademicyearwillallowforearlierbudgetaccessforthegoaltoreachcompletion.WhileitisunderstoodthatTripleIplanninggenerallydoesnotallowforgoalstoberepeated,thisgoalwillneedtoberepeatedinthe12‐13TripleIplanningprocessdocument.ThedepartmentfeelsthisisanexcellentrecruitmenttoolaswellasexcellentK‐12regionaloutreach.

Excellence TheDepartmentrecentlyaddedTHD392ProfessionalEngagementtoourcurriculum.Theadditionofthiscoursewillallowstudentstoworkintheirfieldanddemonstratetheirskillspriortograduationanduseofthiscourseatthelocalcommunitytheatre,PlayhouseinthePark.

Duringthe11‐12academicyear,thedepartmenthadonefacultymemberand5studentswhoworkedatthePlayhouseintheParkwithgroupsofchildrenages6‐14.Theprogramwasverysuccessfulandweanticipatethecontinuationofthatcollaborativetheatreevent.

CommunityOutreach

ToestablishacommunityoutreachprojectforstudentswithintheVeterinaryTechnologyProgramtoassisttheCCAS(CallowayCountyAnimalShelter)&HumaneSociety.

Part1:DoggieDaySpaFall2011,32studentsinAGR‐332, VeterinaryNursing,participatedin2of3DoggieDaySpasthatwerescheduledforthesemester.AspartoftheAssessment,studentswererequiredtocompleteareportinessayformatonwhytheyfeltthecommunity,thestudentthemselves,andthepatientsbenefitfromtheservicesthatareofferedataneventsuchasDoggieDaySpa.Theessaywastoexplainhowthiseventhelpstobuildskills,whileprovidingapositiveexperienceforthecommunityinregardstoserviceandcreatingpartnerships.Withthedocumentationprovidedbythestudents,theyfeltthatservicesbeingprovidedultimatelyofferedtheutmostcaretothepatientfirst.Beingabletoprovidebasicgroomingcarebroughtattentiontotheanimalinseveralareas,fromskinproblems,earissues,andpossiblenailinjuries.Thesecondareathestudentsaddressedwasincreatingpartnershipswiththeclients,theanimalowners.Studentswereveryappreciativeofbeingabletoexpandtheirknowledgefromtheclassroom,andbringittoeventslikeDoggieDaySpa,andsharewithowners,intheareaofClientEducation.Thisisnotaskillthatcanbetaughtinalaboratoryorclassroom,sostudentswereveryeagertobeabletosharetheirknowledgewithclients,whilealsosupportingthepatientinareassuchasfleaandtickprevention,heartwormprevention,andbasichusbandryquestions.ThethirdareawherestudentsfelttheyhadtremendousbenefitfromparticipationineventssuchasDoggieDaySpa,isskilldevelopment.Studentswereabletoexpandtheirpersonalskilllevelinareassuchasteamwork,communication,clinicalrestraint,andanimalhandling,alongwithpatientgrooming.FortheSpring2012semester,32studentsinAGR‐332,VeterinaryNursing,participatedintheDoggieDaySpathatwasscheduledforthesemester.Eachstudentturnedinawrittenassignmentthatwasverysimilartothefallsemester.Assignmentone:includedthestudent’senhancementofAVMAessentialskillswhichincludedvariousaspectsoftherapeuticbathingandgroomingforthepatient.Assignmenttwowasanessayexplainingthebenefitstheservicesprovidedfortheanimalandcommunity(whichisexplainedindetailstatedabove).Part2:Murray‐CallowayCountyAnimalShelterStudentsinAGR‐332,VeterinaryNursing,weregivenaweeklyscheduletovolunteertheirtimefrom10:00a.m.‐4:00p.m.,MondaythroughFriday.Studentsprovidedbasicmedicalcareandhusbandryinthefollowingareas:bathing,earcleaning,nailtrimming,andphysicalexams.AmasterschedulewascreatedforAGR‐332studentsthatallowedthemtoexpandtheirexposuretocommunityanimalsandimprovetheanimal'swelfare.Therewereatotalof32studentsenrolledinAGR332duringthefall2011semester,22studentsvolunteeredtoassistwiththeShelterproject;moreover,duringthespring2012semesteroutof32students,20studentsvolunteeredtoassistwiththeShelterproject.Therewasahugesupportofstudent

participationforthisopportunityduringthe2semestersweimplementedthecommunityserviceproject.Studentskeptupwithweeklytimecardsandloggedtheirhours,workingapproximately1‐3hoursadayonaverage,alongwithworking1‐2daysperweek.Accordingtothedocumentationreceivedbythestudentswhoparticipatedinthisserviceevent,theyassistedwiththerapeuticbathingandgrooming,earcleaning,nailtrimming,walking,andsocializingtheanimals,asmuchasneeded.Studentsalsoplayedahugeroleinmaintainingacleananddisinfectedfacility,whichhelpedreducethespreadofparasites,alongwithbacterialandviraldiseases.Studentsalsospenttimelesshoursworkingonbehaviormodification,tohelptheanimalsbecomemoreadoptable.Theyworkedwiththedogsandcatstoreversenegativebehavior,andtrytorewardpositiveattitudes,alongwithteachingdogs’simpletask,suchasleashwalking.AccordingtotheCallowayCountyAnimalShelter,havingVeterinaryTechnologyStudentsvolunteeringtheirtimetoassistthemwithtaskreallyseemtomakeadifferencewiththesocialinteractionoftheanimals,thecleanliness,andproperhusbandryofthekennels,clienteducation;moreover,theyhaveaskedustocontinuethisprojectforthenextteachingsemester.

Innovation Toexpandthedepartment'sHumanPerformanceLaboratoryspaceandtestingcapabilities.

AsapartoftheCollegeofHealthSciencesandHuman Servicesrestructure,thedepartmentofAlliedHealthSciences(AHS)wascreated.ExerciseScience,aprograminAHS,isbeingrelocatedtotheAppliedSciencesBuilding.Anewstate‐of‐the‐artexercisephysiologylabiscurrentlyunderconstructiononthefourthfloorofAppliedSciences‐North.ThisnewlabwillallowfacultyandstudentstheopportunitytoutilizeequipmentsuchastheParvoTruOne2400MetabolicMeasurementSystem,electrocardiogram(ECG)machineandVelotronDynafitProexercisebikeandsoftwareforeducationalandresearchpurposes.Itisanticipatedthatthenewlabwillbecompletedandoperationalduringthefallof2012.\

CommunityOutreach

Developaninitiativethatwillexpandwellness‐relatedcommunityservicesofferedbyWTS.

AsapartoftheCollegeofHealthSciencesandHuman Servicesrestructure,thedepartmentofCommunityLeadershipandHumanServices(CLHS)wascreated.ThisnewdepartmentincludesRecreationandLeisureServices,SocialWorkandYouthandNonprofitLeadership.Allthreeoftheseprogramsprovidesignificantservicelearningandcommunityserviceopportunitiesforstudentsandfaculty.Thelocalcommunity,aswellastheregionbenefitgreatlyfromfacultyexpertiseandstudentinvolvement.BeginningAugust,2012adepartmentcommitteewillreviewanauditofallserviceprovidedtothecommunityandregionbystudentsandfaculty.Inaddition,ideassuchassemesterservicereports,adepartmentserviceclubandaVolunteerMurrayclearinghousewebsitearebeingconsidered.

Innovation WinslowDiningHallFoodCourtRehab. Thisgoalwasfullyrealized.StudentsintheGraphicsDesignDepartmentprovidedthedesignandspecificationsfornewstationsignageatWinslowDining,andanoutsidegraphicsdesigncompanyprovidedtheproductionandinstallationofthesignage.Allworkwascompletedintimeforthespringsemesteropening.Thenewsignagehasbeenwellreceived,andprovidedafreshnewlookfortheWinslowDiningservery.Asaresultofthesuccessofthisprogram,DiningplansonworkingwiththeGraphicsDesignDepartmentonotherprojects.

TheOfficesofEnrollmentManagementandAcademic AffairsconductedinterviewswithCallowayCountySchoolAdministratorstoreceiveinputregardingthisproposal.Basedontheseinterviews,itwasdeterminedthatsuchatwoyeardegreeoptionwouldnotworkwiththecurrenthighschoolcurriculumandwouldpotentiallytakeawayfromstudentsandtheirhighschoolwork.Fornow,thisoptionisoffthetable.

Excellence EnrollmentManagementwilldevelopaselectionandawardingprocessforprivateandendowedscholarshipsbyMarch15,2012.

$90,000infundingwasrecentlyidentified(excessfunding fromanotherprojectcontingency),togotowardreplacementofexteriorlightingwithLEDlighting.WorkonthislightingreplacementwillbeginthisSummerandshouldbecompletedintheFallof2012.Withinthelastyear,4newpolesand8LEDlightfixtureswereinstalledintheparkinglotofWKEXPOCenter.Thisparkinglotwasnotpreviouslylighted,sothisrepresentsprogresstowardallnewfixturesbeingLED.

Innovation DevelopanappropriationsforecastingmodelthatwillpredictMurrayState'spotentialshareofapooloffuturestaterevenuesbasedonthe2012‐14performancefundingmodelcurrentlyunderdevelopmentbytheCPEandpubliccollegesanduniversitiesandscheduledtobecompletedbyNovember,2011.

Apredictivemodelhasbeendevelopedthatcanprojectthe amountoffundingthatcouldbeearnedbyMurrayStategiventhesizeofaperformancefundingpoolandthedegreeofprogressinachievingperformancetargetssetbytheCPEanddeterminedbythemtobeeligibleforpossibleperformancefunding.Thoseperformancemetricsare:Bachelor'sDegreesConferred;Bachelor'sGraduationRate;Bachelor'sGraduationRateGap‐UnderpreparedandTransfersfromKCTCS.Themodelhasbeentested,butnotactivatedbecauseoftherecentstatebudgetcuts.Thenextstepwillbetodeterminehowbesttoimprovethegranularityoftheunderlyingperformancedatatomakethepredictivepowerofthemodelmorerobustasanaidtoplanninghowtoimproveperformance.

Inthefallof2011andbridgingintothespringof2012the universityindirectcoststructurewasreconstructedtoprovidegrantobtainerswitha12.5percentstakeoftheformula.Thisnewformula,containingthe12.5%incentiveforgrantwriters,willbeginJuly1,2012andhopefullyserveasabenefitforthosewritinggrantsthatproduceindirectcosts.Theformulawillbemonitoredevery2‐3yearsforotherchangesthatneedtobemadetostaycurrentwiththeneedsoftheuniversity.

MurrayStateUniversityupdatedtheCampusBuilding CoordinatorProgramtoimprovethecampuscommunity’ssafety.ExistingEmergencyProceduresguidelineswereeditedwithrevisedcontent.Thisincludedupdatingemergencyprocedurespowerpointtrainingprograms.MeetingswereheldwithBuildingCoordinatorsexplainingprogramupdates,aswellasdiscussingbuildingsecurityissues.Theupdatingandre‐emphasisoftheprogramincreasessafetyawarenessontheentirecampus.AnotherCampusEmergencyResponseTeam(CERT)coursewascompletedduringthefallof2011semester.TwentyfourindividualsoncampusreceivedtheFEMAtrainingwhichincludesfirstaid,incipientfirecontrol,searchandrescue,andelementsofincidentcommandtraining.TheprogramalsosuppliedeachCERTmemberwithabackpackwithlightrescueequipment,andafirstaidkit.QuarterlyemailswithCERTtraininglinkshelptorefreshthetrainingtotheCERT‐trainedindividuals.Inall,overfortyMSUfacultyandstaffhavereceivedthistraininginthelastthreeyears.

Innovation Springer/FranklinResidentialCollegewillfocusuponfreshmenstudentsduringthe2011‐2012academicyear.TheResidentialCollegeCouncilwillcreateforaSpringerHallFreshmanRepresentativeandaFranklinHallFreshmanRepresentativetotheRCC'sExecutiveBoard.

TheSpringer/FranklinRCCExecutiveBoardselected FreshmenRepresentativesfrombothSpringerandFranklinHalls.TheFreshmenRepresentativeswereresponsibleforeditingabiweekly"Springer/FranklinSpotlight"residentialcollegenewsletterthatreachedbothresidentsandcommuterstudentsthroughelectronicmailingsduringboththeFall2011andSpring2012semesters.TheFreshmenRepresentativesinfluencednewprogramssuchasawell‐attendedHalloweenPartyandaFreshmanFieldDayduringtheFallSemesterandanInternationalGameNightduringtheSpringSemester.FreshmenRepresentativesencouragedfreshmanattendanceatSpringer/FranklinCollege'sFYLSpaghettiDinnerduringtheFallaswellasarecordnumberofattendeesatboththeLandBetweentheLakesHikeandtheFreekeeTeekeeoutdoorlawnpartyintheSpringSemester.

Outreach Springer/Franklinwill extenditscommunityinvolvementbyincreasingitsserviceactivities.TheRCCandHousingStaffswillassistlocalorganizationswithfundingandothersupportduring2011‐2012.Springer/FranklinwillofferassistancetoWestKentuckyMentoringaswellasHorsesInc.andtheMerrymanHousedomesticviolenceshelter.

DuringtheFallof2012Springer/FranklinCollegeMembers cookedhotdogsforapproximately12childrenfromWestKentuckyMentoringandaccompaniedthemtoaRacerfootballhomegame.Thecollegealsoraisedapproximately$170dollarsthroughitsSigmaEtaHonorSocietyandFloorPennyWarsforHorsesInc.'stherapeuticridingprogram.Thecollegealsoraised$200onbehalfoftheMerrymanHousedomesticviolenceshelter.Inaddition,throughapumpkinpaintingprogram,collegemembersassistedmorethanfiftycommunitychildrenattheCurrisCenter'sFallFestival.

TheCollegeandCareerReadiness…InnovationsinEducationSummitwasheldinAlexanderHallatMurrayStateUniversityonJune13.TheSummitwastheculminationofextensiveplanningandworkingpartnershipsduringthe2011‐12year.Over60differentsessionsforteacherswerepresentedthroughoutthedayfocusingoncollegeandcareerreadiness.Approximately250participantsattendedthesessions.Sessionswerealsopresentedforcommunityandbusinessleadersandschooladministrators.Kentucky’sFirstLady,JaneBeshear,andDr.ChairsMcGaughyprovidedkeynoteaddressestothegroup.TheSummitwasfundedbytheTeacherQualityInstituteandagrantfromtheCouncilonPost‐SecondaryEducation.Certificatesforprofessionaldevelopmentactivitiesweregiventoeachparticipant.Eachparticipantfilledoutanevaluationattheendoftheday.Theevaluationsweretalliedandsubmittedtothecommitteemembers.Therewere205participantevaluationsreturned.95%oftheparticipantsevaluatedtheSummitas“relevantandpurposeful.”93%indicatedthatitfurtheredtheirprofessionalgoalsand96%saidthatwhatwaslearnedattheSummitwouldfurtherstudentachievementintheirschoolordistrict.Theplanningcommitteeismeetingtodeterminethenextstepsandfutureplans.TheTeacherQualityInstituteiscommittedtofindingwaystodeliverqualityprofessionaldevelopmenttotheteachersinourserviceregion.

UpwardBound/Grant

Innovation Toincorporatetheuseoftechnology,includingbutnotlimitedtoiPads,Mac's,kindles/nooks,duringmonthlyschoolvisitsandcampusmeetingsduringthe11‐12academicyearwithUpwardBoundparticipants.

WewerenotabletogettheadditionaliPadsuntil spring semester.Bythattime,wehadcertainactivitieswewererequiredtodo.ParticipantswereabletoaccesstheMaccomputerandlaptopswhentheywereoncampus.WedidnotachievethisobjectivelikeIwouldhaveseenhappen.Wenowhavetheresources,justnottheprogram.

CommunityOutreach

ToconductschoolvisitstwiceamonthattheareahighschoolswhereUpwardBoundparticipantsareserved.

Staffdidanamazingjobofconductingschoolvisits.Staff andschoolpersonnelwereinconstantcontactregardingparticipantprogress.Wewereunabletoincreaseparticipationatoneofourschools;however,itwasnotfromlackoftrying.Staffwereattheschooltwiceamonthforthreemonths,withnostudentscompletingapplications.Wecurrentlyhave67activestudentswhiledroppingonlytwoduringtheacademicyear.Increasedretentionsignificantly.Schedulesdidnotallowstafftoconducttwoschoolvisitsamonth.Itwaswrittenintothenextgranttorequiretwoschoolvisitsamonth.

Innovation Determineifthecurrentfinancingplanforrenovatingsixresidentialfacilitiesisthebestmethodoflong‐termfinancing.

Indeterminingthebestmethodoffinancing,themostcost effectiveandinnovativeplanswillprovidegreaterbenefitsforuniversityresidentialstudentsandprudentstewardshipofstatefunds.Measurementwillbesuccessfulcompletionofresidentialfacilitiesduringareasonabletimeperiod(4biennia)andeffectivecostbasis.Progress:RecentlyawardedcontracttoMGT,Inc.toprovideconsultationonhousingsystemoptions.

WhiteResidentialCollege

Innovation Expandservicesthatassistfreshmenreceiveadvisingtoensurethatallfreshmencreatecareerplan.

Theresultsofthefreshmensurveyandcommutersurvey(SurveyMonkey)wereappliedtodecisionsforimprovementinprograms.Primarybarrierstoparticipationforthecommuterstudentswerethefollowing:work/employment(25%),inconvenientdate/time(75%),andfamilyresponsibilities(50%).Thefreshmensurveyrespondentsweresatisfiedinthefollowingareas:academicadvising(96%),climate(91%),academicandsocialprogramming(95%),andtutoring(98%).Ninety‐threepercentofrespondentssaidthatthestudyskillseminarspreparedthemfortheirmajorcourses.Satisfactionwiththeresidentialexperiencewastiedstronglytosatisfactionwithprogrammingandcommunitydevelopmentinitiativeswhichfacilitatedinteractionbetweenandamongstudents,facultyandstaff.

Partnerships StrengthentheperceptionandexperienceofMurrayStateUniversityaswelcomingandsupportiveofdiversepopulations,backgrounds,andperspectives.

Fifty‐fivepercentofstudentssaidthattheyweremorelikelytoconsiderthemselvesawareofeventsrelatedtodiversity.From2011to2012,surveydatashowedincreasedagreementthattheWhiteCollegeadministrationleadershipwithrespecttodiversity,socialinclusiveness,andtheresidencehallclimateforunderrepresentedstudentshadimproved.Ninety‐eightpercentofstudentswereveryorsomewhatsatisfiedwiththeBullyFreeZoneseminarsin2011,comparedto94%in2010,includinganincreaseinthepercentagethatreportbeingverysatisfiedfrom42%to46%.Morethan96%ofthestudentssaidthatWhiteCollegeimplementedeffective,measurableprocessestorecruit,retain,andsupportdiversestudents.

WKMS‐FM Innovation WKMSwillcollaboratewithDigitalMediaServicesforinclusionofKETprogrammingonitsradioscheduleaswellasexpandingacontent‐collaborationwithDMS.

WKMSaddedKET'sKentuckyTonight,OnetoOneandConnectionstoitsbroadcastscheduleinJanuary,2012,andwehavereceivedpositivelistenerfeedbackaboutit.WKMSisalsocoveringROMPmusicfestivalinOwensboroJune2012withDMStoseehowfurthercollaborationmightemerge.Wehaveinitiatedapracticeoflivebroadcastingofmusicfestivalperformancesasallowedbyartistrelease,whichisnewforusandmostpublicradiostationsthatmoreoftenrelyonbringingpost‐performancerecordingstoair.

CommunityOutreach

WKMSwillcontinuetoplanandexecutemonthlymeetingswithlistenersandthecommunityaswellaspotentialmajordonorprospectsthroughoutitscoveragearea.

Wecontinuetoexplorethemostefficientwaytomeetourlistenersinthecommunitieswecover,butwehavenothadaMeetandGreetofficialeventyetthisyear.Ontheotherhand,wehavehadalivepresencefor3daysattheLowertownArtsFestivalintheLowertownCommunityinPaducahwhichalloweduslotsoffacetimewithlisteners

Women'sCenter Innovation Toeducatetheentirecampus&surroundingcommunityaboutself‐injuriousbehavior(withafocusoncutting)&helpeveryoneknow&understandthewarningsigns&waystoapproachsomeonethatoftenleadsasufferertoseekhelpmorereadily.
