MS Maintenance Overview
Cooling disk O-ring and absorbent exchange
Cleaning
:Crew operation is necessary.
There are three maintenance operations. All tasks need crew operations.
double airtight O-ring of MS Core and MS Cassette will be exchanged.
O-ring of cooling disk and absorbent in MS Core will be exchanged.
silicone oil in MS Core will be wiped off, furthermore “Cooling disk O-ring exchange” and “Airtight O-ring exchange” will be conducted.
Remove MS from FPEF
Disassemble MS
When MS Cassette is exchanged

Key Points during MS maintenance
Category Key Point
Crew Safety - Do NOT touch the edges of the cooling disk or heating disk by hand to prevent crew contact to sharp edge.- Attach MS Heating Disk Cover and MS Cooling Disk cover to prevent crew contact to sharp edge.
Time Critical Operations N/A
Dos and Don’ts - Do NOT touch the edges of the cooling disk or heating disk to avoid disk coating comes off for experiment success.
- Do NOT touch thermo couples(three) on the cooling disk.
- Do NOT touch limit switch sensors to avoid coating comes off.
Difficulty in Ops. N/A
Possible Mis-Ops. N/A
