• Pictures of cones and signs not necessary– You can use any design as long as there is a key code
• Specific site requirements can be added directly to the TMD • Indicate clearly
– Work site– Vehicle Parking if required– Tents– Etc
TMD Reference numbers
• TMP reference number is not the TMD reference number
• TMD Reference numbers is unique

– STMS to set up Traffic Management– Complete TMP on site– STMS on site to phone the TMC– Explain TMD set up– TMC will agree or discuss changes– Submit completed TMP with agreed TMD’s to
the TMC within 48 hours
Site control• STMS has full control over the area and times that

– 9am start means no signs down till 9am• TMP break Down
– All signs removed
Inter TTM Coordination
• STMS for each site to co ordinate overlapping or adjacent TTM

TW-16 signs not required on the carriageway– No tapers required for parking removal– Inspection activities, the use of electronic sign boards can be
used instead of signs and cones – Elimination of lateral safety zone on TMD2 and F2.1 and F2.3
when the TTM does not impact a live lane– Restricted parking is not considered a shoulder
Ask for what you wantThese situations must be approved by the TMC
Delegated TTM
The Legal SituationA Traffic Management Plan takes your activity from a criminal situation to a civil situation.•The TTM converts transport corridor from a public space to a private space.•The created work site must exclude the public and reserve the space exclusively for the work.•Any hole or item in the work site that may cause injury or obstruction has been placed with reasonable excuse and is unlikely to cause injury
What traffic management is
designed to achieve• Safety of the travelling public• Safety of the workers• Efficient utilization of the transport corridor for the
work and the travelling public
