Time to get your party started? Make sure you have the ingredients on hand for these
10 favorite mixed drinks. Be sure to let your guests know what’s available so they can
choose refreshing beverages accordingly.
INGREDIENTS:
One part sweet vermouth
Three parts whiskey (bourbon or rye)
2 dashes of aromatic bitters
Maraschino cherry
Manhattan
INGREDIENTS:
2 ounces Scotch whiskey
Club soda
Scotch & Soda
DIRECTIONS: In a shaker tin, add whiskey, sweet vermouth, bitter
and ice. Stir gently and strain into a chilled martini
glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
(May also be served over ice in a rocks glass.)
DIRECTIONS:
Fill rocks or highball glass with ice. Pour Scotch
whiskey over ice and top with soda. Stir gently.
INGREDIENTS:
2 ounces of whiskey (bourbon or rye)
1 maraschino cherry
1 orange slice
1 sugar cube
Dash of aromatic bitters
Splash of water (optional)
Old FashionedDIRECTIONS:
Place the sugar cube on a napkin and gently drop the
dash of bitters on the cube. This allows any excess
bitters to be soaked up by the napkin. In a rocks or
highball glass, add cherry, orange slice and bitters
soaked sugar cube and lightly muddle. Add 2 ounces
whiskey, stir and add ice. Add a splash of water to
open up the flavor of the whiskey (optional).
INGREDIENTS:
3 parts gin or vodka
1 part dry vermouth or olive juice
(classic or dirty martini)
2 olives (optional)
MartiniDIRECTIONS:
In a shaker tin, add ice, vodka or gin, and either
dry vermouth (for a classic martini) or olive juice
(for a dirty martini). Shake well and strain into a
chilled martini glass. Garnish with 2 olives on a
drink sword (optional).
INGREDIENTS: 2 ounces Seagram’s 7 whiskey
7Up soda
7 and 7DIRECTIONS:
Fill rocks or highball glass with ice. Pour whiskey
over ice and top with 7Up soda. Stir gently.
INGREDIENTS:
2 ounces Jack Daniel’s whiskey
Coca-Cola soda
Jack & CokeDIRECTIONS:
Fill rocks or highball glass with ice. Pour whiskey
over ice and top with Coca-Cola soda. Stir gently.
INGREDIENTS:
2 parts Scotch whiskey
1 part Drambuie
Rusty NailDIRECTIONS:
Fill rocks or highball glass with ice. Pour Scotch
whiskey and Drambuie over ice and stir gently.
INGREDIENTS:
1 part fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 part simple syrup
2 parts bourbon whiskey
Whiskey SourDIRECTIONS:
In a shaker tin, add lemon juice, simple syrup and
whiskey. Shake and pour over fresh ice into a rocks
or highball glass over ice and top with 7Up soda.
Stir gently.

2 parts Cointreau or triple sec
1 part lemon juice
Lemon twist (optional)
SidecarDIRECTIONS:
In a shaker tin, add ice, Cognac or bourbon,
Cointreau or triple sec and lemon juice.
Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled martini
glass. Garnish with a lemon twist (optional).
10 FABULOUS FOOD RECIPES WHAT’S A PARTY WITHOUT FOOD? Sure, you can pick up some of the snack foods below from the frozen
foods section at the grocery store. But if you want the ultimate experience,
we’ve provided some recipes to help you make it happen.
INGREDIENTS:
2 tbsp. margarine
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 cup domestic beer (not dark beer)
1 tsp. dry mustard
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese cubes (about 8 ounces)
Crisp crackers or corn chips for dipping
DIRECTIONS:
Melt the margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add
flour. Cook and stir for 1 minute. Add beer and dry mustard over
medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Stir in the
cheese. Reduce the heat to low. Keep stirring until the cheese is
melted and the dip is smooth. Serve warm. Yields 1-1/3 cups of hot,
cheesy goodness.
Beer Cheese Dip
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups ridged dill pickle slices
Shortening or oil for frying
Beer Batter:
1 cup flour
1 egg
1 tbsp. melted butter
Salt
1/2 cup beer
DIRECTIONS:
Combine the flour, egg, butter, salt and beer in a blender. Mix until
the batter is smooth and bubbly. Let the batter rest in the covered
blender for about 4 hours. Strain the pickles and let them dry on a
paper towel. Dip the pickles into the batter a few at a time.
Fry them in about 1 to 2 inches of fat heated to 365°F for 5 to 7
minutes, until golden brown. Remove the chips and drain them
briefly on a paper towel. Serve warm.
Fried Pickles
INGREDIENTS:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup ranch salad dressing
1/2 cup hot pepper sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1-10-ounce can chunk white chicken, drained
DIRECTIONS:
Heat oven to 350°F. Place the cream cheese in a glass baking dish. Stir until
smooth. Mix in the salad dressing, hot pepper sauce and mozzarella.
Add the chicken and stir until coated. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the
dip is hot and melted.
Buffalo Chicken Dip & Chips
INGREDIENTS:
2 pounds ground beef
1 envelope onion soup mix
1/2 cup water
8 hamburger buns
Crumbled bleu cheese
1 lb. sliced bacon, cooked
DIRECTIONS:
Combine the ground beef, soup mix and water in a large
bowl. Mix it thoroughly with freshly washed or gloved
hands. Remove the mixture to platter, flattening out to
about to 1 inch thick. Form 8 rounds, shaping them into
firm, smooth patties.
Cook thoroughly on a grill, in a skillet or under a broiler.
Place the burgers on the bun bottoms, adding bacon slices
and cheese. Top with a bun.
Bleu Cheese Bacon Burgers
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 cup water
2 tsp. red wine vinegar
1 envelope dry instant tomato soup mix
1 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. black pepper
60 tortilla chips
1/2 cup thinly sliced scallions
5 or 6 ripe Roma tomatoes, diced
1 can sliced black olives, drained and rinsed
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Sliced jalapeño peppers, drained (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
Brown the ground beef in a skillet, breaking up into small chunks. Drain.
On medium heat, add water and vinegar. Stir well. Bring to a light simmer and
add soup mix, chili powder and pepper. Stir well. Let it simmer until the water
is absorbed, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
Spread the tortilla chips on a piece of foil on a baking sheet. Spoon the warm
beef onto the chips. Sprinkle the scallions, tomatoes, peppers and black olives
over the chips and meat. Cover with cheese.
Bake at 450°F until cheese is melted and just begins to bubble, about 7 to 10
minutes.
Beef Nachos
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups shredded Colby Jack Cheese (8 ounces)
6 8-inch tortillas
2 tbsp. canned diced green drained chile peppers
3 tbsp. chopped green onions
4 ounces bulk Italian sausage cooked and drained
Salsa
DIRECTIONS:
Sprinkle 1/3 cup of the shredded cheese over half of each tortilla. Top with
chili peppers, green onions, and bacon. Fold tortillas in half, pressing gently.
Cook quesadillas, 2 at a time, in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat for 2 to 3
minutes or until lightly browned, turning once.
Remove quesadillas from the skillet and place on a baking sheet. Keep
warm in a 300°F oven until serving. Cut the quesadilla into wedges and
serve with salsa if desired. Makes 6 appetizer servings.
Quesadillas
INGREDIENTS:
12 chicken wings or drumettes
1/2 cup honey
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 lemons
1 glove of minced garlic
A few drops tabasco sauce
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 325°F. Remove the wing tips and break each wing into
two pieces. Place in a shallow baking dish. Mix the remaining ingredients
and pour over the wings. Bake for 1 hour and serve in the baking dish.
Barbecued Chicken Wings
INGREDIENTS:
1 package English muffins
1 15-ounce jar of spaghetti sauce
5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Parmesan cheese
Italian seasoning
DIRECTIONS:
Split English muffins and toast them lightly. Put 2 to 3 spoonsful of sauce on
each muffin. Add toppings of your choice, then sprinkle on some cheese.
Add a dash of parmesan cheese on top and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning
for a more authentic look. Slide them under the broiler for a few minutes,
until the cheese is melted.
PizzaThe traditional party food is pizza. Play it safe with pepperoni, meat-lovers or veggie supreme pizzas. If you’re
not up for ordering pizza, try this recipe for English muffin pizzas instead.
INGREDIENTS:
2 1/2 cups root beer
12 ounces chili sauce
1/2 tbsp. tabasco sauce
1/4 tsp. black pepper
2 pounds warm cooked pork roast, shredded with a fork
12 slider buns
DIRECTIONS:
In a bowl, mix the onion into the chili sauce. Next, stir all ingredients except
for the pork and the buns into a saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring
frequently for about 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, wrap the slider buns in foil and warm them in an oven or over
the grill. Spoon the pork onto the slider buns. Top with some root beer
sauce or serve it on the side.
SlidersMini burgers and sandwiches on slider buns are always a popular choice. Fill the buns with pulled pork, burgers or
another meat of your choice.
PULLED PORK SLIDERS WITH ROOT BEER SAUCE
DIRECTIONS:
Use the same basic hamburger recipe as above, omitting the bacon and bleu cheese.
Form the burgers in a smaller round to fit on the slider buns.

INGREDIENTS:
4 yellow or white onions, sliced to 1/4 inch thick
3/4 cup flour
2/3 cup milk
1 egg
1 tbsp. canola oil
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
DIRECTIONS:
For batter, in a mixing bowl combine flour, milk, egg, canola oil, and salt.
Beat with a whisk until smooth. In a large skillet, heat the shortening until
melted.
Separate the onions as you drop a handful at a time into the batter. Use a
fork to move them around until each one is coated. Catch the rings with a
fork, allowing the excess batter to drain of before putting the onion rings
into the oil.
Fry a few at a time until golden, turning once. Remove the onion rings from
the oil. Drain them on a paper towel. Makes about 6 appetizer servings.
