Need of the StudyWaste generation in Rural India:
Liquid waste: 15000-18000 Million litres per daySolid waste: 0.3-0.4 Million MT per day
Need of the study can be identified through following aspects for rural community:
Environmental wellbeingPhysical wellbeingEconomical wellbeing
Environmental wellbeingAir pollution
Approximately 600 million kg/day is estimated to be made in to dried dung cakes by rural people in India
The amount of CO2 produced is 2.5 kg/ kg of dry dung. The methane released to atmosphere from the semi-solid (20% TS) fresh bovine manure (dung) in India, would be 10.2857kg CH4/Cu.m.
Environmental wellbeingWater pollution
Physical wellbeing
• 5 of the 10 top killer diseases of children aged 1-14 in rural areas are related to water and sanitation
• Almost 1500 children die every day from diarrhoeal diseases
• Results in high rate of infant and children under-5 mortality. The rural IMR is 62 as compared to urban which is just 42 (NFHS-3)
• The water and sanitation related disease not only affects the nutritional status of the children but also impacts their attendance in the school. Close to 50% of school going children in rural areas do not reach class V.6

Aim of the Study
The aim of the study is to provide a sustainable solution for total waste management and revenue generation from the same in rural sector of India with the case study of village Tintoda in Gandhinagar district of state of Gujarat.
Objectives of the Study
1. To prepare a total waste management plan for village Tintoda.
2. To suggest an arrangement for community biogas plant for power generation.
3. To provide sustainable solution for domestic wastewater intending water reuse.
4. To determine revenue generation potential of the proposed plan.
