& Ponderings
An invitation Matthew 13:52-56 The Voice (VOICE) Jesus: 52 Every scribe and teacher of the law who has become a student of the ways of the Kingdom is like the head of the household who brings some new things and some old things, both out of the storeroom. How do we disciple one another? How do we feed the flock here at Glen Dale? The community around us? By using tried and true proven way and means as well as new We live in an increasingly digital age. With it had come concern about research that indicates a range of negative effects related to “screen time,” on the well-being of children, teens, and even adults. Among the quality of life areas that are affected are sleep, self-esteem, ability to concentrate, and feelings of loneliness, on brain development, detrimental effects on social skills, such as recognizing facial expressions and the ability to make conversation. Engaging in analog activities, face to face, shared experiences, help people to feel connected and appreciated. Technology allows us easy access to information and a ways and means of staying in contact with one another The church is good at providing opportunities for people to gather in person to enjoy friendship and fun, to listen to one another and feel heard. Fellowship; times for meaningful conversation that strengthen our identity as those who belong to, and contribute to, the community of faith. When we pray for one another and study God’s word together, our Christian friendships are nurtured, and we grow in faith.
So we are re-imagining Sunday school into Christian education and discipleship time Be—Belong—Become—Bless Be with God, belong to a community of believers, become more like Jesus, then bless others with your time, talents, gifts and resources Why? Because you can’t get everything you need in 1 hour on Sunday morning. As a Pastor I wish I could say yes you can get it all in one hour. But to truly grow as disciples we need more. We need more: So we are expanding our Sunday school time (Sundays 9:30) to include a variety of teaching and classes for all interests. You may offer a class that you would like to teach You may volunteer to facilitate a class from a list provided, all in the hopes that we will grow and mature as disciples and Christians.

Hearts of hope: Faith hope and love abide these three; addiction happens, there is hope, recovery is possible. This will be a support group for parents of children or other loved ones in substance abuse and or recovery (Facilitator wanted) 2. Creative Christians, tapping into our creative abilities to teach and disciple others as we learn. Materials and resources and discussions about the possibilities will be on Sept 15 with classes to form the following week (facilitator wanted) Continued below page 2:
