MUMBAI:Thecountry'slargestsoftwareexporterTataConsultancyServices(TCS)onMondaysaidithasmaintaineditspositionasthe"employerofchoice"withthebestretentionrateintheindustry.Thecompany,whileannouncingitssecondquarterresultstoday,saidthatasmanyas8,919employeesjoineditinJuneSeptemberperiod,takingitstotalheadcountto78,028employees.Thecompany'sglobalhumanresourcesheadSPadmanabhansaid,"Wecontinuetobetheemployerofchoiceintheindustrywiththebestretentionrateandthisishelpingusexecuteonthegroundglobally."TCScontinuedtomaintainthelowestattritionrateintheindustryat10.6percent,thecompanysaid.TalkingaboutitsFY'08hiringplans,thecompanysaidithadalreadymade11,250offersonthecampus.Thecompanywitnessedanetadditionof6,663employeesfrom60differentnationalitiesinitsworkforceinthequarter.Intheyearagoquarter,TCSemployedpeoplefrom49differentcountries.NonIndiannationalsformed8.3percentofthecompany'sworkforce,upfrom7.3percentinthepreviousquarterand3.9percentintheyearagoquarter.Womenmadeupfor25percentoftotalemployees,unchangedfromthepreviousquarterandupfrom23percentintheyearagoquarter.
