The Village Associa-tion of Batavia will pres-ent the 10th annualTaste of Clermont inBatavia on Friday, Au-gust 9th and Saturday,August 10th, 2013. Theevent will be held alongMain Street from 5:00PM - 11:30 PM on Fri-day, and from 11:00 AM- 11:30 PM on Satur-day.
“The Taste of Cler-mont is the majorfundraiser for the Vil-lage Association ofBatavia as well as othernon-profit groups thatparticipate.” said TerryMorris, president of theassociation. He saidthe profits from lastyear's Taste of Cler-mont funded a scholar-ship to the University ofCincinnati Clermont;and four FacadeRestoration Grants forbuildings on Batavia'sMain Street. Expectedfuture interests includefunding to bring enter-tainment and art to thearea, and supporting
local charities. The Vil-lage Association ofBatavia is a non-profit501C3 organization.
Live local music willbe one of the main at-tractions at the Taste.This year's headliner'sfeature is Archer at 9:15PM on Friday, and DanVarner Band at 9:15PM on Saturday. GaryFarmer, who organizedthe music performance,said, "All the music isfrom local bands andsoloists. The music willcover everything fromrock to pop to country tobluegrass and will beperformed nonstop onboth days. It should bea great show of talent!Everyone should comeout and listen!" will feature some new twistsin addition to popular activi-ties and entertainment fromprevious years including avariety of local musical en-tertainers, an art show, foodand shopping vendors, a mo-torcycle show, a car show, acorn hole tournament, a Kid-Zone, a petting zoo, andmore. “The Taste of Clermont is
more than just food anddrink,” Barb Haglage, co-chair for the Taste of Cler-mont, said. “It's a samplingof the various tastes of Cler-mont County including en-tertainment, arts and crafts,and don't forget fun!”Terry Morris, president of
the association, said that thisyear they will have theirfirst-annual rib cook-off atthe Taste. “When a group of people
gather around a grill,whether it is a family reunionor a backyard party, every-one always brags about howgreat their ribs taste,”Richard Mason, rib cook-offchair, said. “So, here is yourchance to prove your ribs arethe best in ClermontCounty.”The rib cook-off will
begin at 7 a.m. Aug. 10 andthe judging will take place at2 p.m.The music lineup for 2013
includes The Never SettingSuns, 5 Thirteen, Reveal, andArcher on Friday night andThe Nightfire Band, NoahSmith Band, Taylor ShannonBand, Dan Varner Band, andmore on Saturday. In addition, local soloists
will be performing in be-tween band performancesthroughout the weekend.Soloists include Dillon Hol-land, Mylee Nipper, MichaelMoeller, Sarah Hamilton,and more. “All the music is from
local bands and soloists,”Gary Farmer, music organ-izer, said. “The music willcover everything from rockto pop, to country to blue-grass and will be performednon-stop on both days.”Farmer said the Taste will
be a great show of musicaltalent. “Everyone should come
out and listen,” he said. The corn hole tournament
this year will begin on Fridayand will continue on Satur-day. Winners will qualify fora state-wide sanctioned tour-nament that will be an-nounced later this fall. The motorcycle show will
be held from 5-8:30 p.m. onFriday, and the car show willbe 5-8:30 p.m. on Saturday.Both days will feature an artshow that will includeposters from the Taste ofClermont Poster Competi-tion. Similar to previous years,
local food vendors will bescattered along Main Streetselling pulled pork, pizza,watermelon, kettle corn,lemonade, funnel cakes, andmuch more. Shopping vendors will
also be selling their productsalong Main Street. “The Taste of Clermont is
a major fund-raiser for theVillage Association ofBatavia as well as other non-profit groups that partici-pate,” Morris said. Morris said last year the
event helped fund a scholar-ship for a student to attendthe University of CincinnatiClermont as well as four Fa-cade Restoration Grants forbuildings on Main Street inBatavia. He said they are hoping to
use future funds to help bringentertainment and art into thearea and to help support localcharities.For more information
