Since premiering at theAdelaide Fringe, the show has

toured extensively throughoutSA, Victoria and NSW. Now it’sthe Territory’s turn.

Songs, jokes, yarns, tall storiesfrom our colourful past are spunin a relaxed atmosphere over adrink or two. It is an irreverent,

affectionate look at things wehold to be particularly Australian.

Combining traditional/bush/folk songs with spoken wordscenes based on old poems andyarns is a winning combination.

The show takes place thisSaturday, August 17, at 5pmand 8.30pm.

Sara Storer is back with a brand-new album.

Songwriter returnsWHEN Sara Storer became amum her music had to take aback seat – but only for a while.

The Territory songbird couldn’tstay away from the lure of makingmusic for long and will releaseher new album, Lovegrass, at afundraising concert next month.

‘‘It has been a couple of yearsin between albums,’’ said themum-of-three. ‘‘It’s been verydifficult balancing family life anda music career together. Youalways want to do both the bestyou can, but I found it difficult totake my eyes off my children.

‘‘The love of songwriting andmaking music kept playing on mymind and in the end I just had tofind the time.’’

Ms Storer first came to the NTto work in remote communitiesbefore her career skyrocketedafter winning a talent competitionin Adelaide River, which led todiscovery in Tamworth. It wasTamworth that set the musicalfire burning in her belly again.

‘‘I caught up with my goodfriend John Williamson at theTamworth Country Music Festivaland was again inspired,’’ shesaid. ‘‘I penned my first song in along time called Canoe, which isabout him. That set the ballrolling and in seven months I hadmost of my album written.’’
