Sara Storer is back with a brand-new album. Songwriter returns WHEN Sara Storer became a mum her music had to take a back seat – but only for a while. The Territory songbird couldn’t stay away from the lure of making music for long and will release her new album, Lovegrass, at a fundraising concert next month. ‘‘It has been a couple of years in between albums,’’ said the mum-of-three. ‘‘It’s been very difficult balancing family life and a music career together. You always want to do both the best you can, but I found it difficult to take my eyes off my children. ‘‘The love of songwriting and making music kept playing on my mind and in the end I just had to find the time.’’ Ms Storer first came to the NT to work in remote communities before her career skyrocketed after winning a talent competition in Adelaide River, which led to discovery in Tamworth. It was Tamworth that set the musical fire burning in her belly again. ‘‘I caught up with my good friend John Williamson at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and was again inspired,’’ she said. ‘‘I penned my first song in a long time called Canoe, which is about him. That set the ball rolling and in seven months I had most of my album written.’’ Sara Storer, Parap Pre-School fundraiser, Fannie Bay Gaol, Saturday, September 14, 7pm. Tickets $100 from Parap Primary School or 8982 2969.
