NEW DELHI, Sept 12:

Ex-servicemen today threat-ened to launch "fast-unto-death"agitation if the Governmentdoes not remove the "anom-alies" in the 'One-Rank, One-Pension' scheme announced byit last week as hundreds of vet-erans held a 'Sainik Ekta' rallyhere.

The rally at Jantar Mantarwas attended by ex-servicemenfrom 22 states and five UnionTerritories, the organisersclaimed.

"We have all resolved tocontinue our protest till suchtime that the Governmentremoves the seven anomalies inthe OROP scheme announcedby them," said Maj Gen (Retd)

Satbir Singh, President of IndianEx-Servicemen Movement, whois spearheading the agitationsince about 90 days.

"Defence Minister ManoharParrikar has said a written orderon OROP will come out in amonth. If the anomalies are notremoved by then, we will resortto fast-unto-death," he said.

He said the veterans havebeen seeking for an appointmentwith Prime Minister NarendraModi to explain the OROPissue.(PTI)
