Church-wide WMU Recognition Service
INTRODUCTION OF PROSPECTIVE STUDENT MINISTER!
Although Michael Coleman has just concluded his tenure with us
as Minister to Students, the Search Committee has been working diligently
on his replacement. At this point in time they are ready to present a
candidate to serve as the new Minister to Students, Tommy Moore.
On Wednesday evening, May 25, at 6:00 p.m., the Search Commit-
tee will share information about Tommy and will answer any questions
you may have about him. This is an information session only and there
will be no vote to call Tommy at this time. This will conclude by 6:30 p.m.
for the RA/GA Recognition Service in the sanctuary.
The congregation will have a chance to meet Tommy, his wife,
Hannah, and their son, Benjamin (a little less than a year old), on Sunday
morning, June 5, in the fellowship hall at the beginning of the Sunday
School hour. Tommy will spend some time with the youth during the latter
half of that hour, and will be introduced in each of the worship services
that morning as well. This is an introduction time only and there will be
no vote to call Tommy on this day.
A vote to call Tommy Moore as our Minister to Students will take
place at the end of each of the morning services on Sunday, June 12. This
will be a ballot vote and the results will be posted on our web site the next
day, announced at the next services, as well as published in the following
issue of the Tidings.
I want to say a special thanks to the members of the Search
Committee: Lawrence Langdale, Chair, Leah Horstemeyer, student
representative, Richard Berry, Shane Lundy, Gigi Baxley, Ginger Meeks,
Charles D’Errico, and Celeste Jackson. They have met often and have done
an outstanding job.

The WMU HEART Fund is a great way to donate to the victims of the terrible tornadoes that swept across Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Send your donations to: WMU Foundation/HEART Fund, 100 Missionary Ridge, Birmingham, AL 35242, or give online at www.wmufoundation.com. They are also collecting WalMart cards to give out immediately. If you can buy these, just return them to the church office, or place them in the WMU box in the North Hallway. These cards will be sent out on May 22 and May 29.
