Welcome Summer School will be held for ten (10) weeks this year, starting on Monday, June 11th through Friday, August 17th. Preschool/KindergartenPreschool/KindergartenPreschool/KindergartenPreschool/Kindergarten ProgramProgramProgramProgram The Preschool/Kindergarten program is similar to the classes during the school year. It covers Language & Literacy, Math, Science & Social studies, Music, Art and Crafts, Physical Education, and some fun water activities! This program is offered for current Little Penguins, Penguins, Seals, and Dolphins age group students. Primary ProgramPrimary ProgramPrimary ProgramPrimary Program In the Primary program, students will work on their academic skills; Math, Reading and Writing, to review and reinforce the knowledge in preparation for the next academic year. This will also be balanced with fun outdoor activities to encourage physical development. Students will also have swimming lessons at the Olympic Center pool. Other outside activities include cycling at Yoyogi Park Cycling Course and some PE lessons on the sports ground next to the school. Taking full advantage of our premier location, students will go to Yoyogi Park every day for recess time if weather permits. Additionally, students will have opportunities to go on excursions to explore local museums or facilities.

Here’s the chance. From the moment that your child(ren) step into the Japanese class, they will be immersed in Japanese throughout the day. Arts & Craft, Music & Movement and Learning Time will all be conducted in Japanese! Useful Japanese vocabulary will be introduced through activities, songs, games, situational studies/ role-playing, cooking and much more! There will be two classes offered this year; a Preschool/Kindergarten class and a Primary class. Introduction to reading hiragana/katakana/kanji will be included for Kindergarten age and older students. We will offer fun-filled activities promoting Japanese language and culture to help students make a stronger connection with their host country, Japan.

In this program, the students will use a variety of instruments, sing songs from different cultures and genres, listen to and compose music, and create dramatic performances. Through music and drama, the students will also have opportunities to practice their Language and Literacy skills; reading and writing the scripts, using various tone or intonation when performing in front of the group, and developing their imagination. There will also be opportunities for art activities when making props and scenery. The Performance Arts Camp offers students a plethora of activities to celebrate the Arts! The Performance Arts Program will require students to sign up for a minimum of 3 days a week and priority will be given to students signing-up for 5 days a week.

(only July (only July (only July (only July 23232323rdrdrdrd---- August 3rdAugust 3rdAugust 3rdAugust 3rd / for Primary students/ for Primary students/ for Primary students/ for Primary students)))) This year we will be offering an action-packed Sports Adventure Camp giving students opportunities to experience and enjoy a wide variety of sports, games and active pursuits. Students will be able to release their energy while they learn new sports and games, develop their physical skills, work as a team player with their peers, and problem solve to succeed at physical challenges. The lessons will be conducted in the many open spaces and sporting venues surrounding the school, including the local sports ground, Yoyogi Park, Yoyogi Cycle Park, and the facilities at the National Olympic Memorial Youth Centre – swimming pool, tennis courts, etc. The students will also work on projects learning about different sports from around the world and inspirational sportsmen and sportswomen. The Sports Adventure Camp will be perfect to encourage and engage active and adventurous students! This program will require students to sign up for a minimum of 3 days a week and priority will be given to students signing-up for 5 days a week. Non-Yoyogi students who are not graduates nor enrolled for the following school year are required to sign up for the full 5 days/week (with the exception of children aged: 7 years old by August 31st, 2018 and older).

International School have first priority acceptance and their siblings have second priority acceptance until April 6th. Applications from non-Yoyogi students will be accepted starting April 9th. Upon receipt of the summer school application form and availability, your child’s place will be temporarily reserved until payment is confirmed.

Tuition: Please refer to the weeklyweeklyweeklyweekly tuition list in each

section. Tuition fees will be calculated by the number of weeks applied. Invoice will be sent by early May (8% tax is included in the tuition fees).

will be administered during summer school. (please ask your physician to prescribe medication dosages to twice per day instead of three times a day)

6. During summer school, the students explore many areas based on each theme. Sometimes, the classes may have food related activities. In the past, students have made shaved ice, enjoyed “Suika-Wari”(a watermelon bust), and ate afterwards. The school always conducts safe and appropriate food activities with the utmost care, especially considering those who have allergies. Please indicate food allergies and/or dietary restrictions if your child may have any. We will inform you of each food activities, so if you have any questions, or wish to be informed, please talk to the school office.

7. The class composition of the classes are subject to change depending on numbers of participants.

8. Yoyogi International School does not have the facilities nor the trained staff to support children who are physically challenged or require special needs.

9. There is less availability for our summer program. Late application may result in not securing your children’s place in the Summer School.
