JoinQueenslandBalletArtisticAssociate,RachaelWalshandAustralianDanceTheatredancerJakeMcLarnonamongotherguestteachersatthisyear’ssummerschoolforaweekofinspiredclassesinclassicalballet,

pointe&repertoire,contemporary,hiphopandjazz.RachaelWalshRachaelWalshwasaPrincipalDanceratQueenslandBalletfor13yearsofher17-yearprofessionaldancecareer.FollowingherretirementfromthestageinJuly2014,shecontinuestoworkwiththeCompanyinbusinessdevelopment,andasamentorandcoachfordancersinAustralia.RachaelgraduatedfromTheAustralianBalletSchoolandjoinedQueenslandBalletin1998.ShewaspromotedtoPrincipalDancerin2003.DuringhercareerwiththeCompany,shehasperformedadiverserangeofprincipalrolesinclassicalandcontemporaryballets,andenjoyedmanyworksbeingcreateduponherbyAustralianandinternationalchoreographers.Rachaelwasawardedseveralscholarshipstotravelandstudyoverseas,includingaLordMayor’sFellowship.HersignatureroleshavebeenCarmen,JulietandGiselle,howeverhighlightshaveincludedworksbyNilsChriste,NatalieWeir,StephanThoss,MarioSchroeder,DavideBombana,YoungSoonHue,StephenBaynes,PaulBoydandKimMcCarthy.RachaelhastouredinternationallywithQueenslandBallettoEuropeonthreeoccasions,aswellastoJapan,ChinaandSingapore.ShewasalsoinvitedtodanceatTheAsia-PacificBalletFestivalinSeoul,Korea.

JakeMcLarnonBorninPerth,WesternAustraliaJakestarteddancingattheageof11atValerieHestonSchoolofDance.JakeattendedhighschoolatJohnCurtinCollegeoftheArts,studyinginthespecialistcontemporarydanceandballetprogram.Hegraduatedin2010withtheWesternAustralianPerformingExcellenceaward.HecontinuedhistrainingatWesternAustralianAcademyofPerformingArts(WAAPA)intheAdvancedDiplomacoursemajoringinBallet.DuringhistimethereJakeperformedinnumerousContemporaryandBalletshowswithworksbychoreographerssuchasGeorgeBalanchine,RaewynHillandXiaoxingZhang.AfterGraduatingJakejoinedAustralianDanceTheatrein2014fortheEuropeantourofProximity.LaterthatyearhealsoperformedBeYourselfinJakarta,IndonesiaasapartoftheSaliharafestivalandthereturnseasonofProximityinAdelaide.InJune2015JakeperformedinanationaltourofBeYourself,performinginPerth,WesternAustralia.
