The Mission of the Ivy Tech Student Veteran Organization at Ivy Tech Sellersburg is to
provide a positive and facilitative environment for veterans as they make the difficult transition from military culture into the civilian world. As an on campus support resource, we will provide educational, social, and networking mechanisms that will assist
veterans as they assimilate and achieve their educational and personal goals.

Objectives
* Assist veterans in reaching their goals by fostering a supportive environment to facilitate educational success.
* Provide social and informational programs to enhance veterans personal and professional growth.
* Nurture a sense of camaraderie and understanding between university faculty and student veterans.
Strategy and Implementation
* Implement monthly workshops to guide veteran success.
* Attend conferences to network and increase professional development.
* Collaborate with campus organizations and local groups to bring awareness to the community
* Utilize marketing outlets more effectively to increase knowledge of SVO on campus

Previous Accomplishments* Initiated an Officer “Bootcamp”
* Organized a campus wide “Care Package” drive for soldiers overseas during the holidays
* Organized a campus wide “Letter Writing” campaign to boost morale of soldiers overseas.
* Collaborated with IUS by participating in student panels, events for Veterans, and enlisting a renown speaker to increase awareness
* Setup and maintained a resource center for all student veterans
* Conducted a Veteran’s Day ceremony at a state-wide Leadership Conference
Lessons Learned* Effectively utilize outside resources on a more regular basis (VA, Ft. Knox, Local Government)
* Have a designated member photographer at each event!
* Continue to send welcome emails with resources to new members & follow-ups
* Continuing collaborative efforts with Student Life to get information regarding SVO in student packets during registration.

* Establish a relationships with local legion to network benefits, entitlements, and community engagement
* Coordinate with local entities: IUS, Legions, County
* Participate in events through campus organizations:
Student Government, Phi Theta Kappa, Student Education Association, Student Life
