The final render was saved as a bit map and was then imported into Serif DrawPlus. A background was added and a frame was placed round this. Text was then added and envelopes were added to the text.

PagePlus was open up and a new page was created. I then created a new text frame with 3 columns which I linked so that my text would flow from frame to frame.

I then inserted all my pictures into my leaflet and set the word wrap for them. The inventor picture of the pencil sharpener was sized, rotated and a transparency set to the background.

I then typed in the heading and used the envelope tool to manually shape the header.

Graphic Graphic Presentation Folio

(Total marks awarded 28/30) Section 1. Manual Rendering and Presentation The candidate has made a good attempt at sketching a complex subject but the rendering was deemed to be fair. Although there was evidence of tonal scale, highlights and reflections being used, the overall quality of the presentation was spoilt by the heavy graphite pencil lines that were evident beneath the rendering. The actual rendering was rough in places with the actual colour going in many directions and not uniformly in one direction. The presentation used three different forms of medium (coloured pencil, pastel and pen for the lettering) and some text has been added to the background. If the overall quality of the rendering had been better, this piece of work would have gained full marks. 4 marks out of 6 were awarded. Section 2. Computer-Aided Drawing - Orthographic The candidate has made a good choice of subject with a variety of parts making it easier to meet the required criteria. The three views have been well laid out and show the appropriate lines types and labels. The model has been created using a modeling package and the orthographic drawings have been generated from the model (this can be seen clearly in the history). Additional marks above unit standard have been awarded for the sectional view and the overall complexity of the drawing. A maximum 6 marks are awarded Section 3. Computer-Aided Drawing – Pictorial A very good Pictorial drawing which shows the model in good detail and meets the criteria at unit standard. Additional marks were awarded for the exploded isometric which has been drawn to a different scale and for the overall complexity. The only criticism that could be made about this piece of work was that the trails should have been removed in the exploded isometric. A maximum 6 marks are awarded. Section 4. Computer-Aided Illustration and Presentation The candidate has produced a quality piece of work which meets all the criteria. The presentation shows a nicely rendered item which shows good use of materials and clearly demonstrates the effects of light on an object. The presentation has been further enhanced with the creative use of clipart as a background and artistic text. A maximum 6 marks are awarded Section 5. Desktop Publishing Presentation Once again the candidate has produced a quality piece of work which meets all the criteria. The page shows three well laid out columns of text and aligned clipart. Additional features such as drop caps, word wrap, rotated graphics, fancy bullets and artistic text for the header all add to the overall effectiveness of the leaflet. A maximum 6 marks are awarded

that's a fact!Two handy tools to

have available for allcolored pencil work are a sandingboard and small sharpener forsharp and angled pointadjustments.  In this section, some very basicmethods of colored penciltechniques will be presented,some very easy and somerequiring a bit more applicationskill.Here is the first practice sheet weused. Won't you get your pencilsready and join us!For color pencil drawing, a good,firm, fine-toothed paper is essen-tial. The examples above weredrawn on Arches Aquarelle(watercolor) hot-pressed paper,which took many more layers ofcolor, and gave much better re-sults when blending, without thepatchiness evident on cheapsketch paper. A heavily sized pa-per, such as the watercolor paper,will give different results to amore velvety 'Velours' paper.

q Shading - Make a series ofshaded areas, solid and gradu-ated. How much variation canyou achieve? How smoothlycan you blend two overlaidcolors? Make sure you use alight touch and graduallybuild up the color.

q Hatching - hatch a large areawith straight marks - avoidmaking hatches that curve inan arc created by your wrist orarm movement. Try stoppinga series of hatch marks along aline, to create an edge.

q Cross-hatching - lay down anarea of regular hatching, thenhatch across it at right angles.Create areas of fine hatchingand coarse. How does it lookwhen you use similar colors?Complementary colors? Tryoverlaying multiple layers andcolors.

q Scumbling - create fine andcoarse areas of scumbling.Use regular even circles andrandom irregular circles. Tryscumbling over a smoothlyshaded area. Use a variety ofcolor combinations.

q Burnishing - go over and overthe same area, starting lightlyand building pressure, untilyou have a smooth, solidblock of color. Try alternatingcolors or shades, laying lightover dark and vice-versa.

q Incising - Lay down two thicklayers of contrasting color.Try using a variety of imple-ments to scratch away the toplayer - a knife-blade, a knit-ting needle or chopstick, acomb.
