S tonyhurst Southville International School’s mission is to
educate young minds who make a difference in the
world. For years, the school has produced numerous
notable Alumknights. Throughout their academic ca-

markably while upholding the highest standards and values
in everything they do.
The following Alumknights are just some of the ones
who are making a name for themselves in the academe

NEW SCHOOL
On Students’ Responsibilities
Parents are discouraged to bring things to school and ask security guards to bring them to students. The main responsibility of the security guards is to secure premises and personnel. So, they are not supposed to leave their posts just to bring stuff to the students.
RULES 2.0
To train students to be more responsible, students are not allowed to call their parents in the middle of the day to bring things for them. When they come in the morning, students are expected to have everything that they will need for the day, as detailed in the Academic Weekly Planner.
On Parents’ Responsibilities
To put emphasis on the previous announce-ment on discouraging food deliveries, students are not allowed to call fast food chains or order food online and then have them delivered to school. This is to avoid students from missing their classes because these types of deliveries require the stu-dents to go out of their classrooms to wait and/or pay for their orders/deliveries.
On Food Deliveries
LET’S SPICE THINGS UP on MUFTI Day
MUFTI Day is once again around the corner. On Wednesday, October 2, the students will be wearing food-inspired costumes/outfits in line with the celebration of the World Food Day, which will be on October 16. World Food Day is a day of action dedicated to tackling global hunger. Held annually on 16th October, people from around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate worldwide hunger from our lifetime. Celebrating the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), events are organized in over 150 countries across the world, making it one of the most celebrated days of the UN calendar. So, make sure to come to school looking your yummiest on the date stated.
CSN to help boost Every student has the desire and capaci-ty to excel academically. Given the right en-couragement and motivation, students will continue to improve not only their grades but also their study habits. Careful planning on what subjects to focus on during tests is also important to achieve consistency in terms of academic performance. With the Term Test just around the cor-ner, the school will release the Class Standing Notice (CSN) of the students from Senior Kind-er to Grade 10 on October 1. The students’ class standing per subject could be any of the following:
ON TARGET – The student got a percent-age rating of 56% and up prior to the Term Test (the Letter Grade will range from A-VS).
AT RISK – The student obtained a percent-age rating of 52% - 55% prior to the Term Test (the Letter Grade is LA).
DELAYED – The student obtained a per-centage rating of 51% and below prior to the Term Test (the Letter Grade is P).
Please be advised that if your child re-ceives a grade of LA (Low Average) or P (Poor) at the end of the First Term and/or the Aca-demic Year, he/she will have to attend Extend-ed Mid-Year and/or Summer Academic Pro-gram classes respectively. Please do help us encourage your child to practice Growth Mindset and Grit to continue to excel, or to improve his/her performance. Please feel free to schedule an appointment with your child’s subject teacher/s, should you want to know more details about your child’s current performance.
The CSN serves as a guide on what score a child needs to get in the Term Test for him/her to get a passing grade or an excellent grade depending on the status per subject. With the CSN on hand, the parents and the teachers can collaborate on how to help the child overcome learning difficulties and devise strategies on how the child can do better or catch-up in the Term Test.

Season II:
S SIS fully supports the Department of Edu-cation in employing positive and non-violent discipline strategies in managing
children. SSIS believes that discipline is adherence to or following a certain order of behavior in ac-cordance with what is RIGHT, FAIR, and JUST. In SSIS, discipline is synonymous to LOVE and CARE. As responsible adults in school, the teachers and staff manifest love and care for the students by helping them develop good habits in school work and play, feeding their minds with healthy thoughts, and preventing and protecting them from trouble and harm. Moreover, SSIS fosters the principle that starting them out with a disciplined life while they are young will help them become adults who will be more consistently responsible and successful in their later years. It is then in the spirit of the foregoing state-ments that we declare this commitment:
SSIS Child Protection and Anti-Bullying Pledge Statement
Stonyhurst Southville International School (SSIS) is and will
always be a CHILD-FRIENDLY and BULLY-FREE school.
We shall continually work together
To PROTECT, STOP, TAKE A STAND,
DEFEND, and UPHOLD the rights of children
against any form of abuse including bullying.
We promise to always cultivate and maintain
a healthy and positive learning environment
where we respect individual differences
and champion human dignity.
So help us God.
SSIS believes that a child is in need of
child protection if the act/s that was/were
committed against the child falls under the list
and description contained in DepEd Order
No. 40, s. 2012 otherwise known as The DepEd
Child Protection Policy and/or Republic Act
No. 10627 or The Anti-Bullying Act of 2013.
