Stewed plums with cinnamon and
lemon
Equipment:
• Chopping board
• Knives
• Big pot
• Measuring cups and
spoons
• Bowls and spoons
for serving
Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 2 cup water
• dash salt
• 2 tablespoon fresh
lemon juice
• 1 cinnamon stick
• about 30 small ripe
plums
What to do:
• In a large saucepan, combine sugar, water,
salt, and lemon juice; add cinnamon stick.
Stirring constantly, bring mixture to a boil.
• Wash plums
• Cut the plums into quarters being careful of
the pip in the middle of the fruit. Cut off
any daggy bits and put in compost bin.
• Place in boiling syrup. Continue boiling for
3 to 5 minutes, or until plums are tender.
Add more sugar to taste if necessary and cook
for a few more minutes.
• Remove from heat; chill.
• Serve with yoghurt, ice cream, over cerial or
just on its own…..
• These can be frozen and used when needed.
