Stewed plums with cinnamon and lemon Equipment: Chopping board Knives Big pot Measuring cups and spoons Bowls and spoons for serving Ingredients: 1/2 cup sugar 2 cup water dash salt 2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 1 cinnamon stick about 30 small ripe plums What to do: In a large saucepan, combine sugar, water, salt, and lemon juice; add cinnamon stick. Stirring constantly, bring mixture to a boil. Wash plums Cut the plums into quarters being careful of the pip in the middle of the fruit. Cut off any daggy bits and put in compost bin. Place in boiling syrup. Continue boiling for 3 to 5 minutes, or until plums are tender. Add more sugar to taste if necessary and cook for a few more minutes. Remove from heat; chill. Serve with yoghurt, ice cream, over cerial or just on its own….. These can be frozen and used when needed.
