Wed. College Student Mass and Dinner St. Thomas Parish sponsors a special Wednesday evening Mass
and Dinner for college students each Wednesday while the
University of Montevallo is in session. The Mass is celebrated at
5:30PM at the Campus Chapel on the corner of Highland and
Moody, and a dinner prepared by teams from the parish follows
immediately after Mass.
Angel Tree Thank You Thank you to everyone who brought gifts for “The Angel Tree”.
Our Social Concerns Ministry has done their usual wonderful job
with this event. The people at Shelby Emergency Service and at
Bibb County DHR and the clients that they serve are deeply
appreciative of your generosity.
Confirmation Retreat Team St. Thomas Parish has set the dates for the Confirmation Retreats.
The Confirmation I Retreat will be on January 26-27, 2018 , and
the Confirmation II Retreat will be February 23-24, 2018. Both
retreats will be at the Catholic Student Center on the corner of
Highland and Moody in Montevallo. The retreats will be
presented by a Retreat Team that will consist of college students
and of high school students who are already confirmed. The
Retreat Team will meet for planning on Wednesday evenings at
the Catholic Student Center. The meetings will be on November
29, January 10, 17 and 24 in preparation for the first retreat.
Then, there will be meetings on the Wednesdays of February to
prepare for the second retreat. The meetings will begin at 6:45
PM, and the college students and confirmed high school students
are also invited to attend the Mass at 5:30 PM and the dinner that

Confirmation 3/10/18 Bishop Baker has given St. Thomas Parish the date for Confirmation for our Confirmation II class. Confirmation will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 5:30 PM. There will be more details provided to the class as we approach that date.
Primetimers 1/9 For parishioners men, women and their guest who are 50 or
older we get together once a month on the 2nd Tuesday. The Mass
is at 11:00AM with a lunch after in the Parish Hall. Cooks provide
the meal. If you would like to cook or provide something for the

Epiphany Day of Reflection to be offered 1/6 Sister Elisabeth Meadows, OSB, will lead a Reflection Day on
Saturday, January 6, 2018, entitled The Invitation of Epiphany. It
will be held at the Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center in Cullman.
The program will begin at 9:30 am and conclude at 3:00 pm.
During this one-day retreat we will consider the invitation of
Epiphany through reflections on the Biblical tradition of
welcoming the stranger, the Benedictine tradition of hospitality, the
migrant experience of the Holy Family who sought refuge in
Egypt, the example of Jesus, and our own experiences of being in
need of refuge and safety.
The cost for the day is $30 and includes lunch. Pre-registration is

Mass for January 1st at 10:00 AM St. Thomas Parish will celebrate Mass for the Feast of The
Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God at 10:00 AM on
Monday, January 1, 2018. This feast is mormally a Holyday of
Obligation. However, since the feast falls on a Monday, according
to the directives of the United Sates Bishop’s Conference, it is not
a Day of Obligation this year. It remains a special feast, and you
are encouraged to join us for Mass that morning.

Thank you to all who made our Christmas celebration so special here at Saint Thomas. We were blessed with outstanding attendance at our Christmas Masses – thanks for making the time to worship with us.
Thank you to all who participated in the Angel Tree Ministry. Many families were blessed through your generosity. We offer special thanks to our Social Concerns Committee, who organized this ministry.
Thank you to all the many people who worked on the decorations for the Church and grounds to make them look so festive for Christmas.
Thanks to all the liturgical ministers for the Christmas liturgies, and throughout the year: our Lectors, Special Ministers of Holy Communion, Altar Servers, Ushers, and Sacristans. Special thanks to all our Music Ministers for the wonderful music for this beautiful season.

Bodas y Quinceañeras Si usted está planeando su boda o Quinceañera hay requisitos que
usted necesita seguir. Usted debe hablar con el sacerdote para
obtener la fecha y la hora. El sacerdote establecera su calendario y
le dirá que llame a Marisa en la oficina. Usted necesita tener sus
sacramentos. Santo Tomás ofrece unas clases de matrimonio que
son necesarias y también para las quinceañeras deben de tomar
unas clases que se requieren. Antes de que usted reserve la
iglesia debe dar un depósito. Si usted tiene una persona que va a
decorar la iglesia, debe de venir a la oficina dos semanas antes de
la boda o quinceañera. Debe ser un miembro registrado aquí en
Santo Tomás para poder reservar la Iglesia. El costo por el uso de
la iglesia es de $250 quinceañeras y $500 para bodas. Las Clases Para Quinceañeras Las clases para quienes tengan su 15º cumpleaños aquí en Santo
Tomás debe ser un registro miembro, no excusas. Si usted tiene
su fiesta en otra parroquia deben hablar con el Padre Bruce para
poder tomar las clases aquí en Saint Thomas. Debe tener todos
los sacramentos, el Bautismo, la Primera Comunión y la
Confirmación. Si usted necesita su confirmación para poder tener
una misa debe inscribirse en la formación en la fe. Las clases para
las Quinceaneras No tenemos las fecha. Por favor comuniquese

Confirmación 3/10/18 Obispo Baker ha dado Parroquia Santo Tomás la fecha para la

Flores para el Altar de 2018 Flores para el Altar de 2018, la lista está en el espacio de
encuentro. Gracias por ayudarnos a tener flores en el altar. El costo
es de $90 para toda la organización o $45 por semestre.
Equipo de Retiro de Confirmación I 1/26 y 27 La Parroquia de Santo Tomás ha fijado las fechas de los Retiros
de Confirmación. La Confirmación I retiro será en Enero 26-27,
2018 , y la Confirmación II retiro será en febrero 23-24, 2018.
Ambos retiros estarán en el Centro de Estudiantes Católicos en la
esquina de Highland y Moody en Montevallo. Los retiros serán
presentados por un retiro equipo que constará de Estudiantes
Universitarios y de los Estudiantes de secundaria que ya están
Confirmados. El retiro equipo se reunirá para planificar los
Miércoles por la tarde en el Centro de Estudiantes Católicos. Las
reuniones serán el 10 de enero, 17 y 24, en preparación para el
primer retiro. A continuación, se celebrarán reuniones de los
Miércoles de Febrero para preparar el segundo retiro. Las
