FROM THE PASTOR Dear Parishioners,
Today is Divine Mercy Sunday
Pope John Paul II made an announcement of this in his homily in the Holy Year 2000 at the canonization of Saint Faustina Kowalska. He
said: "It is important that we accept the whole message that comes to us from the word of God on this 2nd Sunday of Easter, which from now on throughout the Church, will be called 'Divine Mercy Sunday.' " By the words "the whole message," the Holy Father was referring to the strict connection between the "Easter Mystery of the Redemption" the suffering, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Christ, followed by the sending of the Holy Spirit and the Feast of Divine Mercy, the Octave Day of Easter.
This week is the annual Convocation of all priests and pastoral administrators taking place at Watkin’s Glen. Please note the resulting changes to our daily Mass schedule.
Next weekend April 29-30 will be our annual Instructional Mass. On that weekend, we w ill learn about the background and symbolism of Mass. I will be doing a “practice run” of this Mass on Friday at 7:00 PM. You will be able to ask questions during the Friday Mass but not during the weekend.
On behalf of our parish, I would like to extend thanks to Eileen Clement for her work decorating St. Felix Church for many years. We need people to continue this effort. Also, we need volunteers to work on St. Felix grounds.
Sincerely, Father Gagnier
EASTER FLOWER MEMORIALS
You can submit your Easter Flower contribution to the Parish Office via the collection basket or the Parish Office through April 30th.
Catholic Home Missions Appeal
Strengthening the Church at Home
Next week, we will take up the Catholic Home Missions Appeal to provide religious education, lay ministry training, and other pastoral programs in needy dioceses across the U. S.
Right now, over 40% of dioceses in the US are considered home missions because they are unable to fund essential pastoral work needed in their communities. Your support of this appeal helps ease the struggle of these dioceses. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this appeal.
