Bulletin (next to Pastor’s Corner) for Lawn Fete Weekend Details!
2. St. Mary of the Lake Church, Hamburg, New York June 3, 2018!
Pastor’s Corner !!
The Feast of Corpus Christi is marked in places all over the world with colorful and very public Eucharistic celebrations! We Catholics already know the Lord Jesus in His Sacramental presenceat the Mass, in Adora-
tion, and when Communion is brought to the sick; but this is a festive opportunity to share with the whole world that Christ’s powerful presence leads and guides us al-ways, “until the end of time.” The feast and its processions mark a very visible ex-ample of the “public witness” of our be-liefs and the scriptural commission to “Go make disciples of the nations (Mt 28:28).” It is a reminder that, in less showy ways, the Gospel is to be made a part of the ordi-nary circumstances of our lives. At times, that will be difficult, but we place Christ at the center of those lives; He leads us and we follow, joyfully, faithfully and never alone, but always with others.!! Speaking of celebrations, it's Lawn Fete time! The longawaited St. Mary of the Lake Lawn Fete begins this Friday and goes through Sunday. Please plan on join-ing us for this wonderful, wholesome weekend of fun and fellowship for such a good cause…the mission of our parish! There will be an outdoor Mass again this year, but on Sunday at 11:00 am. So plan on attending and bring a folding chair to the mass! !! This week is also the Diocesan Priest’s “Convocation” at Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, New York, from Tuesday through Thursday. Please pray for your parish priests as we regroup, pray, and encourage one another, particularly during this very difficult time. !
! See you in church! !

Did You Know?!
Education in environmental re-sponsibility can encourage ways of acting which directly and sig-nificantly affect the world around
us, such as avoiding the use of plastic and paper. For believers, this becomes a question of fidelity to the Creator, since God created the world for everyone. If we approach nature and the environ-ment without awe and wonder, our attitude will be that of consumers and ruthless exploiters, unable to set limits on their immediate needs.!(Pope Francis, Laudato Si) !
! RespectLife!
!What is the greatest destroyer of
peace and promoter of vio-
lence? St. Teresa of Calcutta gave
us an understanding of just what it
is and what we are fighting. It is
abortion and it doesn’t just kill babies, it affects
the whole of society’s mentality pertaining to the
value of life. She put it this way: “Any country
that accepts abortion is not teaching its people
to love, but to use any violence to get what they
want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love
and peace is abortion.” This mindset is not a
side-issue that affects only a small number of
people; it has a far reaching ripple-effect oppo-
site to love, peace and human dignity.

Parish Directory
It is that time again to release a cur-
rent photo directory for St. Mary of
the Lake parishioners. The first of
three sessions for photos will be
July 30August 2. This will be a nice
opportunity to take pictures that you can have forever.
We will be signing families up for their photo sessions after
all Masses on June 16/17, 23/24, and June 30/ July 1. Sign
up sheets will be in the Gathering Space on those week-
ends.!
!Leaving items by the bulletin board!
!Please do not leave items on the counter by the doors of the church in the Gathering Space. If you have religious items that you wish for us to dispose of please drop them by
the office during regular business hours. You may also drop things off at the Sacristy of the church on Saturday or Sunday before or after Masses. Thank you for your consideration.!
!
Priceless Purses!!
Summer is always a great time to look at your winter purses and clean house! Instead of just tossing them
out, consider donating to a wonderful Ministry that places these bags with women who have a genuine NEED
of a new purse. Also collected are NEW toiletries to stuff the bags. Director of the min-istry, Louise O’Connor, is always happy to share the
details about her ‘clutch collecting’ pastoral calling. You can reach her by calling 6279609.!
FUNERAL LITURGY ! PLANNING! !
When a loved one dies, it is a sad
and difficult time– and we need
help to focus on planning a special
and meaningful Mass. In under-
standing and sympathy, it is our
privilege to meet with the family and guide them
in choosing readings and hymns that are special to
their loved one. We would be happy to have you
join our team as part of The Bereavement Commit-
tee. For more information, call Mary Wickett at
627-9076.

New Parish Ministry!!
!The Diocese of Buffalo announces a new minis-try, the
“Addiction Advocate,”
which will provide guid-ance to individuals and
families who do not know where to go for help. The role of the advocate is a volun-teer who assists the Pastor by providing information and contact phone numbers for addiction prevention, treatment, and support. The goal of the Addiction Advo-cate is to offer opportunities to fellow pa-rishioners who are suffering from addic-tion or a loved one who struggles with al-
cohol and/or drug abuse. The Addiction Advocates are not counselors or medical professionals and do not provide clinical services. Addiction Advocates are re-quired to maintain a high level of confi-dentiality. There are brochures in the back of the church which provide infor-mation on Grief Counseling services, Be-reavement services, Mental Health and Chemical (drug) Dependency Services. They are located to the right of the bulletin board, in a pamphlet holder. If you choose to speak with the Addiction Advo-
cate, please contact the Parish Center @ 627-3123. Our Addiction Advocates are Marianne Christen and Connie Jackson.
