The Huntsville girls volleyball teamhad its back against the wall. Down 10-2to Tarkington in the final set ofSaturday’s semifinal matchup of theHuntsville tournament, the Lady Hornetsfound themselves on the brink of elimi-nation.

to tie the set at 10.From there it was smooth sailing, as
the Huntsville girls went on to defeatTarkington 25-20, 18-25, 25-23 and thentook care of Willis 25-21, 25-16 to takehome the tournament championship forthe second consecutive season. The LadyHornets also defeated Dayton 25-21, 25-16 in their first game of the day.

After two weeks of practicing,the Lions of Alpha OmegaAcademy got a chance to seehow they fared against three dif-ferent squads Saturday.

With five days of practices under theirbelts, the Hornets got a chance to see wherethey stood as they continue to work with anew offense and defense.
On a sizzling Saturday morning with theheat index in the triple digits, Huntsville’sfreshman, junior varsity and varsity teamsdid some good things, plus saw what need-ed improvement during their intrasquadscrimmage at Huntsville High School.
“We just wanted to come out and get bet-ter to get to the next step,” Hornets seniorrunning back Harold Johnson said. “Wewanted to push forward to the next step. Ithink we did good. We’ll definitely beready for the next scrimmage.”
The varsity squad showed off its speedand athleticism from a variety of differentsources.
With several running backs not dressedout, Johnson took the bulk of the workloadearly on.
