Several Kinds of Sound• Narration
• Use Audacity to record• First record audio, cut video to match
• Voice Over• Use Premiere to record• First shoot video, record audio to match as you watch it
• Ambient sound• Set sound level in Premiere• Delete if unneeded
• Soundtrack• Use public domain music, import into Premiere• Set sound level and duration in Premiere
Soundtrack• Use only for beginning and end – don’t compete with
content• Use Public Domain or Creative Commons Commercial
Use Allowed license for music • http://ccmixter.org/• Filter kind of CC license to: Commercial allowed
• Import into Premiere• Drag into Soundtrack track• Use editing tools to set duration (left clip and drag end of clip)• Use Audio Tools>Audio Mix or yellow line to set level (have
scrubber at BEGINNING of clip)• Right-click track to add fade-in and/or fade-out
Ambient Sound • Comes attached to video track when you import
• Mute or set level using Audio Tools>Audio Mix• Have scrubber at BEGINNING of clip• Yellow line another option
• Right-click>Delete Audio also works
Voice Over• Shoot and Import video• Click Audio Tools>Add
Narration• Hit record
• Use headphone• Turn OFF speakers• Keep mute checked• Wait for 3 second countdown

Narration• Use Audacity to record
• Save as .wav or .mp3 file
• Import audio into project• Drag into Narration track• Use Audio Tools>Audio Mix
to set level• Have scrubber at
BEGINNING of clip• Yellow line another option
