Tier iii Design Accreditation
Why Tier III?
The Uptime Institute's tiered classification system is an industry standard approach to site infrastructure functionality. It addresses commonbenchmarking standard needs.
The four tiers which have been classified by The Uptime Institute are:
• Tier 1: composed of a single path for power andcooling distribution, without redundant components, providing 99.671% availability
• Tier II: composed of a single path for power andcooling distribution, with redundant components, providing 99.741% availability
• Tier III: composed of multiple active power andcooling distribution paths, but only one path active, has redundant components, and is concurrently maintainable, providing 99.982%availability
• Tier IV: composed of multiple active power andcooling distribution paths, has redundant components, and is fault tolerant, providing99.995%.
Tier III Data Centre Concurrently Maintainable
Site Infrastructure
A concurrently maintainable data centre has redundant capacity
components and multiple independent distribution paths
serving the computer equipment.
Only one distribution path is required to serve the computerequipment at any time. The siteshould have 12 hours of on-site
fuel storage for ‘N’ capacity.
The rating also requires all IT equipment to be dual powered,
installed properly and compatiblewith the site’s architecture.

Data CentrePLUS Services
A Flexible, Efficient, Experienced, Client FocusedService
Specifically launched to deliver data centre services, SDC works closely with it’s parent company, SBI Group PLC to be ableto provide further on-site support for it’sclients as and when needed.
SBI Group has been delivering IT servicesfor more than 16 years and expanded it’sdata centre offering to form SDC to fulfilthe current client needs.

Through the Group, we offer a widerrange of services than many data centres. We term this spectrum of services asData CentrePLUS because we are morethan just a data centre.
Our data centre clients can continue tomanage their own infrastructure but alsohave the flexibility to utilise additional infrastructure, desktop and developmentskills, without managing multiple suppliers. This can be on an ad-hoc/project basis or built into the data centrecontract.
The addition of an extensive data centre services capability in Metro Point enablesclients to increase their reliance on thequality and range of services delivered bya trusted partner.
International Standards
Our data centre is certified to International standard, ISO 27001- Information Security Management.
It is currently undergoing review with the Uptime Institute for Tier III Design.

Our core data centre services can begrouped into 4 areas:
Colocation Services
By contracting for colocation services, ourclients rely on Sovereign to support their business critical and network infrastructure in a secure, modern datacentre. We provide a safe, secure ‘home’in which to install, operate and maintaincorporate IT hardware, systems and applications, supported by advancedpower & cooling infrastructure in a datacentre protected by sophisticated management & monitoring systems.
Hosted Services
We provide the computer systems that werun and maintain on our client’s behalf. The primary benefit to the hosted serviceis that maintaining the system, keeping itsecure and backed up is our responsibility– our client’s business continues to utilisethe system, without the need for physicalspace for their own staff to support it.
Managed IT Services
Some clients exploit Sovereign’s flexiblerange of services to fulfil specific support requirements when they have a substantial internal IT department but require additional expertise on a frequentbasis.
Alarm Monitoring
One of the most powerful features is itsability to identify and communicate alarmconditions ensuring a quick response andbusiness continuity.
Remote Monitoring
Whether it is reacting to alarms or investigating the system, communicationwith the site remotely provides the opportunity to evaluate and respond accordingly.
Condition Based Maintenance
It is possible to diagnose the need for maintenance or a service through condition monitoring. This removes theneed to perform unnecessary preventativemaintenance.
Building Management Systems monitorand control services such as heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, ensuringthey operate at maximum levels of efficiency and economy. This is achievedby maintaining the optimum balance between conditions, energy usage and operating requirements.
Utilities Management
Only with the correct measurement of utility consumption, will you be able tomanage your costs and remove energywaste.
Monitoring and Targeting
The utility consumption of many premisesoften follows a regular profile. The system can record actual consumption data andthen compare it against the regular profile.

Cooling
Cold aisle containment is a highly effectiveform of airflow management that resultsin the optimisation of cold air usage.
Specification• N+1 redundancy on Eco DX cooling
system• Twin Compressors per circuit for high
efficiency at part load• Twin refrigerant circuits• Dual HP switch with auto reset timer
for improved resilience• N+1 Power supplies.
Benefits• The most efficient use of cold air• Reduced power usage (cooling system
and hardware)• Helps achieve hot/cold aisle compliance
to TIA 942 and ASHRAE• Reduced carbon footprint• Increased uptime• Increased resilience• Hotspot elimination.
Fire Detection & Suppression
IG-55 (50% Argon, 50% Nitrogen - Argonite) is a composite gas which extinguishes most fires within 60 seconds.
• Acceptable for human exposure forshort period of times
• Argon and Nitrogen are both naturallyoccurring gases so considered to be environmentally friendly.
• VESDA - is an air sampling fire alarm system designed for very early warningfire and smoke detection
• 15 zone air sampling system.
Leak Detection
A leak detection system that identifieswithin 1 metre, where the leak is by wayof a mapped sensing cable and easy reference framed layout.
