Principal Message
Dear Rockwell Families,
Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we continue to navigate this active Wisconsin win-ter. A special thank you to all of the families who joined us at conferences this week after being snowed out twice. We truly appreciate this time with you each semester to share the academic pro-gress of your child. Even though the end of winter is hopefully within our grasp, we continue to remain in full swing with regards to our academic programming. Our students in 3rd thru 5th grades are continuing to focus on their core instruction in preparation for the upcoming Forward Assessment. Families of students in grade 3-5 will be receiving the exact testing dates for their students in the upcoming weeks. You can assist in ensuring your child is ready for this assessment by making sure they get a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast each day. The upcoming months are an exciting time at Rockwell Elementary School and we look for-wards to seeing all of you at the many family events we have coming up. We would love to have you join us for our March PTO Meeting on Tuesday, March 5th at 6:00pm in the IMC! Likewise, we would love to see you at our upcoming Rollerblading Family Night on the 8th. This is always a fun evening for families to enjoy our Rollerblading Rink in the gym. In appreciation of your part-nership in your student’s edu-cation success! Mrs. Walden

Attention
5th Grade Parents
Vaccine Requirement for 6th Grade Students
Changes in the Wisconsin Student Immunization
Law now require a dose of Tdap vaccine for students
entering 6th grade. Parents are required to have their
children vaccinated or claim a waiver.
Tdap is the adolescent combination vaccine that pro-
tects against tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping
cough). One dose is required.
Exceptions to the Tdap requirement:
If your child received a tetanus-containing vac-
cine (such as Td vaccine after an injury),
within the last 5 years of entering the grade it
is required, your child is compliant and the
Tdap vaccine is not required.
Additional Information:
If you plan to claim a waiver, you are required to
sign and date a Student Immunization Record
form, which is on the School District of Fort
Atkinson website (Health Services). Please
return the completed form to the Middle
School Pupil Services Office or the School
Nurse Office.

DEADLINES APPROACHING FOR FAMILIES
LIVING OUTSIDE THE ROCKWELL OR FORT
ATKINSON DISTRICT ATTENDANCE AREAS
The Open Enrollment Program is for families
wishing to have their child(ren) attend a different
school district than the one they reside in. This
year, the application window is from Monday,
February 4, 2019 through Friday, April 30,
2019 at 4:00 p.m.
Parents can find more information and an applica-
tion online at https://apps4.dpi.wi.gov/Opal2012 or
on the District’s website at www.fortschools.org.
Parents who have questions are encouraged to con-
tact the Superintendent’s Office at 920-563-7807
or email Debbie Kopps at [email protected]
If you live inside the district of Fort Atkinson, but
would like to choose a different school for your
child other than the one your child currently at-
tends, you may fill out a request form for that as
well. (That request form is called an Inter-District
Transfer Request.) This would be for requesting a
school other than the one assigned to you because
of your address. For Example, if you are living
outside the Rockwell attendance area, ie. in the
Purdy, Luther, or Barrie areas. If you have not
filled out a form or been approved for such a trans-
fer in the past, the deadline for applying is April
30, 2019. Forms and more information are availa-
ble in the Rockwell Office.

FORT ATKINSON SUMMER SCHOOL 2019
Preparations for the 2019 summer school session are in full gear. The Summer School Session will begin on Monday, June 17th, and end on Friday, July 19th. There will be no summer school July 4th and 5th to recog-nize the 4th of July holiday.
The District is excited to again offer a wide variety of great classes and camps for your family to consider!
The District will again use a PRIORITY REGISTRATION system. During PRIORITY REGISTRATION, parents/guardians will have the opportunity to indicate which classes their children wish to take this summer using the online registration system (similar to last year). Using this information, the District will then determine the number of sections to run for each class in an effort to ensure that kids get the classes that they desire this summer.
PRIORITY REGISTRATION will be open Friday, April 5th until Monday, April 15th. All registrations received during this week are considered equally. Please mark your calendar and share with your friends.
By using PRIORITY REGISTRATION, you are giving your child the best chance to get the class(es) he/she wants this summer. There are three registration help sessions planned: Monday, April 8 from 8:00 to 9:30AM and again from 3:15 to 6:00PM at the Luther Elementary IMC. The third help session is on Wednes-day, April 10 from 3:15 to 6:00PM at the Purdy Elementary IMC. An interpreter will be available to help.
Registration information, including student logins and class lists, will be sent home in student folders on Thursday, April 4th. If you have any questions throughout the process, please call the Summer School Office at 920-563-7802 or email [email protected].
We hope your child will join us this summer for lots of fun!
