The concept of "radiant floor heating"or under-floor heating has been usedfor centuries. It can be traced back tothe Romans who used a hypocaust, which was a system that heated homeswith hot air under the floors. Under-floor radiant heating also has a longhistory throughout Asia.

Heating by radiant energy is observedevery day; the warmth of the sunshinebeing the most common example. It is

similar to the heat you feel when youstand by a window on a sunny, coldday. Your face feels warm, but the sundidn't need to heat the air outside tomake you feel that way.

Under-floor (or Infloor) heating servesup heat from below. The result is amore even overall heat that warmseverything in the room, includingsurfaces, furnishings, and, mostimportantly, you.

Advantages of an Infloor Heating SystemWe are proud to offer radiant heatingsolutions designed to improve youreveryday living and comfort. There aremany benefits to Infloor radiant heating. It is energy-efficient, reducing gas andelectric bills, eliminates duct work andduct heat losses, creates a quieterhome, is a healthier way of living forthose with allergies, and providesgreater energy management optionswith zoning. It is a superior heatingmethod that easily adapts to evenfurther 'green living' sustainability withsolar and geothermal options availablefor increased savings.

Nearly everyone now agrees that aradiant heating system is the world'smost comfortable heating option thatmakes floors wonderfully warm.Hydronic heating systems save energyand lower fuel bills because radiant heatfeels more comfortable at lower airtemperatures, enabling you to lowerthe thermostat. In addition, it is moreefficient than other systems because ituses relatively low water temperaturesto heat your home. In effect, the entirefloor is a radiator, so it doesn't have tobe as hot as conventional radiators, andboilers can heat water to lower tempsmore efficiently.

PE-RT (polyethylene raisedtemperature; PE-RT) tubing has beenused successfully for nearly 30 yearsin plumbing and heating applications, and now commands about 25%market share in Western Europe.

It touts many beneficial advantages, such as a protected EVOH oxygenbarrier on the inside of five-layers,high strength, high temperatureresistance, and long life withoutcross-linking, it’s made in America, and more.

“The five-layer tubing is more flexibleand easier to install than other pipingmaterials used in hydronic radiantheating, cooling, snowmelt, anddistribution piping applications,”Michael shared.

Radiant Heating is the Preferred Choice Continued

The systems depend largely on radiant heat transfer; thedelivery of heat directly from a warm surface to the peopleand objects around it.

Any residential, commercial, or industrial building can takeadvantage of all the benefits radiant floor heating has tooffer. These projects can be new construction, remodel, small additions, retro-fit, industrial, snowmelt, and outdoorwarming applications; available in hydronic and electriccable radiant heating systems.

Electric cable systems provide heat through cables installedover the subfloor in a bed of thin-set mortar. It is availablein 120V and 240V. Ceramic and stone tile are popular floorcovering choices. While stunningly beautiful, these flooringtypes are also cold to the touch. Infloor radiant heatingsystems eliminate that cold chill, producing high satisfaction. It can also be installed under laminate and other floatingfloors, such as engineered hardwood.

Hydronic systems are usually designed to heat an entirehouse, building, or outdoor space. A propylene glycol orwater solution is heated to between 90 and 150 degreesFahrenheit by a boiler and circulated through tubing in thefloors. The tubing can be installed in several ways:embedded in a concrete slab, installed over an existing slabin gypcrete, stapled underneath the subflooring, or fittedinside the channels of specially designed subfloor panels.Any kind of finished flooring, including hardwood, vinyl, orcarpeting, can be installed on top of it.

Whether you're building a new home or business, orremodeling your present one, isn't comfort one of the mostimportant qualities you desire? Radiant heating has alwaysbeen the most comfortable, energy-efficient choice forheating any area, and is the only heating method that canactually improve your life.
