    Gund G

    allery advances the role of visual art as a critical centerpiece of K

    enyon’s liberal-arts mission by

    championing the best art and artists of the 20th-and 21st-centuries via an

    active exhibitions schedule, expanding permanent collection, and form

    al and inform

    al learning experiences.

    opened, the Gund G

    allery Collection launched w

    ith inaugural gifts from

    alumni donors and board m

    embers. B

    ookending this new

    collection of 20th- and 21st-century art were gifts of three Lew

    is Hine

    photographs from the first decade of the 20th century and tw

    o recent video w

    orks by Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson, w

    hich were joined by the gift of

    a 1986 wall sculpture by Louise N

    evelson. In 2014, eighty additional works of

    contemporary art w

    ere donated by Ann and G

    raham G

    und ’63, further securing this collection’s im

    portant focus and trajectory. The Kenyon C

    ollege C

    ollection includes a range of pre-20th-century art, works related to the

    College’s history and alum

    ni, ethnographic objects, and material culture and is

    managed and cared for by the G

    und Gallery.

    Kenyon’s beautiful cam

    pus provides the perfect backdrop for a growing roster

    of important and historically m

    eaningful works of art from

    the Gund G

    allery C

    ollection and the Kenyon C

    ollege Collection. Public art installations are

    approved and sited by the Public Art C

    omm

    ittee, a group of dedicated faculty m

    embers, C

    ollege administrators, staff m

    embers, students, com

    munity

    representatives, and gallery personnel. Publicly displayed works of art now

    include special Q

    R-code labeling to provide an array of interpretive and historical inform

    ation researched and written by G

    und Associates, the

    museum

    ’s dynamic interns.
