Eligibility

To be eligible to achieve credit toward your UNSW Australia degree, you must have completed 72 UOC of JURD courses if you are a Juris Doctor student or 78 UOC of LAWS courses if you are a LLB student and have a WAM of 65%.

Tuition fees

Students will need to pay the tuition fees for the program upfront to ACICIS.

New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant

Eligible students will receive a $3,000 New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant. To apply for the New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant, students need to apply for the program. There is no separate application process. ACICIS will assess student’s eligibility for the grant in collaboration with UNSW. You must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Current undergraduate (Bachelor or Honours Degree) student

Studying at an ACICIS Member University (YES – UNSW is a Member University)

Australian Citizen

Receiving credit towards your degree for participation on the program

Have not previously received a short-term New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant*

Not currently a citizen or permanent resident of the Republic of Indonesia

*Students are only allowed to receive one short term mobility grant and one semester long mobility grant from the New Colombo Plan. N.B. 70% of grant recipients (Australia-wide) must be between the ages of 18-28.

Application process

Step 1: Before applying for ACICIS

A. Initially, students should complete the Exchange Moodle Tutorial. B. Then, apply to undertake cross-institutional study via the UNSW Student

webform. The Director of Experiental Learning will deteremine if you are eligibile to undertake cross-institutional study and receive transfer credit upon its completion. UNSW Law Student Services will issue your cross-institutional study outcome letter, which also be provided to ACICIS for their records. Please see the cross institutional unit options for ACICIS programs at UNSW Law below in section 7.

C. Send your cross institutional letter of approval to [email protected] and to [email protected]

Step 2: ACICIS Application Process

A. Complete the ACICIS short-term program online application here. B. Arrange for Coordinator (Short Programs & Practicum) to sign the appropriate

ACICIS ‘University Approval Form’, which is downloadable from the online application.

C. Submit an application by the deadlines noted in section 5. D. ACICIS will notify students of acceptance with in one month of the application

closing date.

Step 3: Before Departure

A. Register your travel with UNSW and read through the UNSW pre-departure tutorial available here

B. Attend in informal pre-departure event held by ACICIS in Sydney. These events are non-compulsory, and a copy of the information presented will be made available to all participants.

Credit Arrangements

Below is an outline of the possible credit arrangements for ACICIS Law Professional Practicum at UNSW. To ensure you are able to be approved for these credit arrangements, please contact UNSW Law Student Services. Points: 6 UOC Course: LAWS3555/JURD7555 UNSW Law Internship

OS-HELP loan application Once you have been accepted on to an ACICIS program, you may submit an OS-HELP loan application for consideration by UNSW Sydney and the Department of Education.

Students can pick up an OS-HELP application form from UNSW Student Central or the Study Abroad & Exchange Office.

Centrelink

If you are currently receiving payments from Centrelink, read the information here, and request a Mobility Confirmation Letter from UNSW Study Abroad & Exchange Office.

Travel Insurance

Students who participate in outbound international programs may be covered by the UNSW Travel Insurance Policy. If you are unsure of whether you are covered by the UNSW Travel Insurance Policy, please contact the UNSW Study Abroad and Exchange Office.

Results

After you have returned from the LPP, you will be sent a copy of your original transcript of completion, as well as qualitative outcome reports. These documents will be sent by email to you, and any relevant UNSW staff members (Study Abroad Office, UNSW Law Student Services, and Academic Services) in order to assess if you have satisfactorily met the ACICIS course requirments such that you can receive a credit transfer.

Processing Credit Transfer UNSW Law Student services will process your credit transfer upon receipt of your original transcript of completion and qualitative outcomes reports. Send your request to LAW Student services Ask a Question webform.
