The main activities of PIANC regard the set-ting up and management of international expert Working Groups for the preparation of technical reports and guidelines in the field of waterborne navigation infrastructure design, construction and management, the organisation of congresses and events at an international level, the recognition of awards for the excellences in the fields of interest. To do this, PIANC has four international ex-pert Technical Commissions, among which one is the Recreational Navigation Commis-sion (RecCom). The Recreational Navigation Commission (RecCom) has been established to deal with aspects directly related to sport and recreational navigation, to develop aids for this kind of navigation and to facilitate its integration among the other types of navi-gation (commercial and fishing). RecCom is composed by about twenty ex-perts coming from all the continents. RecCom collaborates closely with other or-ganisations, such as the International Coun-cil of Marine Industry Associations. (ICOMIA).
PIANC RecCom operates several activities
for supporting the quality and sustainability of
infrastructures for recreational navigation at
an international level.

Marina Designer Training Programme Several technical disciplines in the fields of engineering, architecture, urbanism, environ-mental, management are necessary for suc-cessful marina projects and avoid sub-standard services to the final users.
For this reason the professional figure of the ‘Marina Designer’ is more and more required.
PIANC started a specific programme for trai-ning these experts, organising courses, work-shops and continue learning activities. More information can be found at
