When will STAAR Results be
Available?
The STAAR performance standards for grades 3-8 will be
determined in late October 2012 by the Texas Education
Agency and will be applied when scores are reported to
districts in January of 2013. Once the STAAR results are
reported in January 2013, individual student results will be
reported to parents. Since the state has not established
passing standards, promotion requirements will not include
the use of STAAR results for the 2011-2012 school year.

PTA President 2011-12
Attention PFE Parents:Attention PFE Parents:Attention PFE Parents:Attention PFE Parents: As we finish the 2011-2012 school year your PTA is already looking ahead to the 2012-2013 school year. Our PTA at Pine Forest is an excellent group of people who help out the school tremendously. This is a great way to get involved with your child’s school and make a difference. There are a few positions open on the board that we are in need of filling. If you feel you want to help us make Pine Forest the best it can be please indicate the office you would like to be considered for and return it to the front office or your child’s teacher. Again, this is an excellent and successful organization and we need your help. Thank you so much, PFE PTA

ATTENTION PARENTS & PETS!
For the safety of our students, PLEASE keep pets at home or in your vehicle during arrival and dismissal time. We have had several pet situations at dismissal that have caused students to get up from their designated areas and run over to the pet. Due to the traffic and assuring student safety, students must remain in their designated areas during dismissal and arrival. Additionally, some students are fearful and/or allergic to pets. Thank you for assisting us in a safe and smooth dismissal process.
Reinforcing the Importance of
Attendance with your Child(ren)
There are 3 more weeks of the school year. Students begin asking
the question, "Do I have to go to school today?" Days seem to be
longer. They may be tired. Maybe they are afraid of a test. Or they
may just want to stay at home with mom. Missing school means
missing instruction. There are consequences for days missed and
tardies. Here are some ways to make sure your child gets to school
every day - on time.
Get your child to bed on time. Mornings can be difficult if a child
did not get enough sleep. Students move slowly in the morning,
rush through breakfast and miss the bus.
Stay in touch with the school. Check your child's folder and ask
about test or assignments that need to be completed.
Help your child to complete assigned task - don't let them stay at
home or run late to school. Let your child see that you value
education.
Remind them that by missing school, they are missing the
opportunity to learn new things.
Thank you, thank you to all who supported our school through the Otis Spunkmeyer fundraiser! We had a whopping 95 students who participated in our fund-raising sales….thanks to you, our school earned over $4000 to support student programs, assemblies, and classroom supplies! The students who earned the pizza party award will receive a permission form to take home. Again, thanks to all who participated and those who volunteered to assist with delivery.
Pine Forest Elementary Super Kids
Day 2012
Super Kids Day for PFE is a special day for our students to “show-off” their locomotor and manipulative skills, through a variety of games/activities. The intent is to get students involved and/or maintain interest in physical
education and fitness. Although this could be viewed as competitive in nature, our students understand (based upon lessons learned in PE) that many core values (i.e. sportsmanship and teamwork) are far more important than winning and not winning. The main
objective here is to: HAVE FUN!! Super Kids Day will be an
ORGANIZED event! No class will be without their teacher and
volunteers at any time! Students will rotate from one event station to another by the sound of an air horn.
Students will need to bring: sack lunch, beach towel, hat/visor, sun
glasses, sun screen (no aersol). Students need to dress cool (and in Super
Kids Day t-shirt or a shirt the color of their grade level Super Kids Day shirt) but in dress code and wear running shoes. Water stations and
Concessions will be provided.
Grades K-2 – Monday, May 14th, 2012 8:30-10:30 Grades 3-4 – Monday, May 14th, 2012 12:00-2:00 Games/Activities: Students will be challenged in many areas such as: balance, speed, throwing, aiming, etc. (jump roping, hula hooping, relay races, distance throwing, and much more!!) Field Day will be held in the
open, grassy area, where the track and play grounds are at Pine Forest
Elementary School.
