Analyze for Gravity, thermal, 4 seis
mic loadings

Any of the AutoPIPE non-code combinations can be displayed on screen and exported to Bentley Navigator for
check Clash detection

Generate an output report to determine areas of maximum displacement
Result > Output Report
6 | P a g e
Check the maximum displacements in X, Y, Z directions as possible areas of clashes
View displacement plot at point C12F for GRT1E3{1} load combination
7 | P a g e
High DY displacement = -4.214” in at C12F (Possible clash between 2 pipes)
Export to DGN using (File > Export > DGN Model (*.dgn)) Hint: Show the insulation defined in the model (View > Show Options > Pipe Insulation) to include the additional
thickness when exporting for clash detection.
8 | P a g e
Select ‘Deflected Model Graphics’ and choose the GRT1E3{1} load combination
DGN file is created in same folder as the DAT model file

Open DGN model in Navigator and Perform Clash Detection Microstation or Navigator can be used to run clash detection
Open Navigator and Select DGN Model “PIPMALL1A_STR_FINAL_V94_SMALL_Z.dgn”
11 | P a g e
Run the CLASH detection
Define a new job called “Clash1”
12 | P a g e
Job > Advanced Settings
Criteria TAB and Select “Levels” Task
Click on 2 levels
“SEG_C_STRESS_MESH_DEFLECTED” and “SEG_D_STRESS_MESH_DEFLECTED”
And drag to Set A box
Note: Alternatively, select the items from the Plant model you want to clash with, e.g. Structure, Equipment,
etc., and add them to Set A (Red). The deflected AutoPIPE piping models can be selected for Set B (Blue) from
the referenced-in stress models.
Select the “Self check”
Under Rules, define a new Rule “Suppress clashes within the same level” i.e. on same segment or line number
13 | P a g e
Click “Process” button
Five (5) hard clashes are found
