Dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY We celebrate it as DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY on the Sunday after Easter (4-3-2016). On that day we will have only one holy Qurbana that is at 8:30 am. After the holy Qurbana we would pray the divine mercy prayer together and the ner-cha would be blessed. The nercha would be like a break-fast. CCD children will be given the food first and thereafter they would go to their CCD classes which start by 10:15 am. The classes will be over by 11:30 am. ANNUAL RETREAT Rev. Fr. Davis Chi-ramel and Rev. Fr.
Abraham Mathew preached the re-treat from their hearts to help us to grow in God’s love. So many people got a chance to make their Lenten confession fruitfully. Let us try to grow in humility and forgiveness. Also continue to pray for the mercy of the lord in the Year of Mercy in a special way. MY HOME VACATION I am going home on March 27th and will come back on April 20th. Main purpose of my travel is to see my mother and spend some time with her. Because of her old age she is mostly bedridden. Please do pray for her and also for my travel. During my absence, the parish activities will be covered by Frs. Joseph Maroor, Suni Padin-
jarekkara and James Kumbakeel. There won't be mass in our church on March 28 - 31 and April 4 - 7, 2016.
HAPPY EASTER! MAY THE RISEN LORD BLESS
AND PROTECT ALL OF YOU! Fr. Kuriakose Kumbakeel (Vicariachan)

THAMUKKU NERCHA
According to earliest history, when Syrian Orthodox Patriarch Maphryono Mor Baselios Yaldo arrived at Kothamangalam in 1685, some pa-rishioners from Karingachira took this mix of banana, fried powdered rice and jaggery to him and that he was pleased. This special food item later became known world-wide as THAMUKKU. Karingachira St. George Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church (near Tripunithura) is famous for its thamukku nercha on December 3rd (Vrischikam 20) during the feast of Mor Baselios Yaldo. It is the ritual offering (nercha) for the cele-bration (Perunnal) of the church. The St. Mary’s Catholic Forane Church at Kudamaloor also offer Thamukku Nercha on every paschal Thursday. Doing this offering is a spe-cial privilege of people of Kumaranalloor area. They do this as a symbol of gratitude for the maternal love and care of Mukthiamma (St. Mary). Each family of Kumaranalloor has to contribute their share for the Thamukku nercha. It is cooked only by men. No woman is allowed to partic-ipate in its preparation. It is distributed to all the pilgrims at Kudamaloor church on Paschal Thursday.
The Annual Thamuku Nercha (provided by “Kuravilangadu
Sangamam” is being blessed by Vicariachan on Palm Sunday.
