Dear Parents/Carers
Yet again another busy week in school: we’re blowing away the winter wet weather with each year group participating in a range of fabulous activities.
Nursery – Yoga
Reception – Being a Chinese Dragon and wrapping up to participate in W.O.W (Willows Outdoor Workshop) on a rainy Friday morning
Year 1 – visits to Brampton Museum and becoming cyclists following involvement in Bikea-bility
Year 2, 3, 4 and 5 – Glow sports (Y1 and 6 to have a go next week)
Year 5 involvement in Manchester Camerata Orchestra workshop in preparation for a per-formance at Staff County Showground next week
6TH Reading Champions treat – visit to Pizza Express
Y6 – Safe and Sound workshops at Hanley Fire Station
I can’t believe that we only have one remaining week in this short half term before our break. However, the children are working exceptionally hard in school and family time is equally important, so a holiday period will be beneficial for all. We have planned a quieter week in school, but look forward to watching the Year 5 dance days. Have an enjoyable weekend.

Exciting News!
We are now proud to be a National School Breakfast
Programme School.
The NSBP is funded by the Department for Education and delivered by a
partnership of two charities, Family Action and Magic Breakfast. The
programme is built around a simple core aim: to ensure that no child is
too hungry to learn. Together, we can remove hunger as a barrier to
learning for every child in school.
It is proven that a healthy breakfast leads to improved concentration,
behaviour, punctuality and attendance.
What will The Willows be offering?
After half term we will be running ‘Classroom Bagel Breakfasts’. Children
will arrive in their classrooms at the usual time and help themselves to a
portion of a warm, buttered bagel on arrival (EYFS and KS1 are offered a
¼ bagel and KS2 ½ bagel).
PLEASE NOTE: Classroom bagels are not replacing your child’s breakfast
as children are still expected to have their usual breakfast at home.
Running late for school one day? Don’t worry as there will be a basket of
warm bagels in the main reception area should your child need one.
You will be receiving more information about ‘The Willows Breakfast
Bagels’ in a letter next week.

Children must read at least 5 times a week at home
to become a reading champion - reading to an
adult in school is not counted in this total.
Reception celebrated Chinese New Year on
Thursday. They learnt a dragon dance and tasted
traditional chinese food. A big thank you to
Yu-Ma-Mi for the donation of prawn crackers.
Brainbuilders
Completing homework activities gives you an idea of the expectations of your children and it
really helps reinforce learning that takes place in the classroom. We expect all of our children to
complete their homework on a weekly basis - here are the class results for last week’s homework.
93% of children across the school completed their Brainbuilders last week.
