These are two types. They are :1)Non-depolarizing blocking agents 2)Depolarizing blocking agents Examples for reversal of neuromuscular blockers are 1)acetylcholinesterase inhibitors 2)neostigmine 3)edrophoniumNEOSTIGMINE: It indirectly stimulates both nicotinic and muscarinic receptors. Unlike physostigmine ,neostigmine has a quarter nitrogen ;hence it is more polar and it is deos not enter into CNS ,but it does not cross the placenta .Its effects on skeletal system is greater than that of physostigmine .Its duration of action is four hours.It binds to the anionic and esteric sie of cholinesterase. The drug block the active site of acetyl cholinesterase ,so he enzyme cam be no longer break down the acetylcholine molecules before they reach the postsynaptic membrane receptors.
