The Icon
On May 5, 1900, Compañía Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey was founded.
After operating for 86 years, it was suddenly shut down on May 9, 1986.
One of the most important buildings, due to its history and the technological development it represented, is Horno Alto No. 3 (Blast Furnace #3), which was namedIndustrial Archaeological Site during 2001.

Museo del Acero, horno³ is a not-for-profit science and technology center. Unique in the world and located in the restored structure of the first steel plant in Latin America: “Compañía Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey”, whose production activities ended in 1986.
horno³ provides multiple interactive areas that enforce scientific and technological education, commemorating the history of steel and its industrial development, hence recreating the siderurgical process.
