Dear MGA Members,
Welcome to the first edition of MGA Quarterly Update. This document serves as ourquarterly communication platform to inform our members of MGA’s activities.
The first quarter of 2017 has been quite a busy period for our Association with all fiveworking committees functioning at full gear planning the year’s calendar and executing theQ1 activities; efficiently supported by our Secretariat. This year, all our activities are basedon our three pillars, namely Advocacy, Communication and Learning, and aligned with theobjectives of the Association.
I N R E T R O S P E C TMessage from MGA President
MGA QUARTERLYU P DAT E
Advocacy: MGA will intensify our Gas Advocacy initiatives this year, in anticipation of an open gas market in 2018driven by the Third Party Access (TPA). Through gas advocacy, we aim to influence the increase in utilization of gas inorder for TPA to be attractive to new players.
Communications: Recognising the need for more frequent communication with members, we have started regularblast of e-mails and posting on our website and facebook page.
Learning: MGA will be providing members more platforms this year to gain and share knowledge through tea-talksand forums, most notable our 8th National Energy Forum planned for October 2017.
In this issue of MGA Quarterly Update, we will be introducing the 5 Working Committees and their activities. I take thisopportunity to thank the working committees for volunteering their time and commitment to ensure successfulplanning and implementation of activities.
I also thank and congratulate the Secretariat for effectively delivering the expected value propositions to all MGAmembers.
I sincerely hope that all members will make full use of the opportunities presented to partake in MGA’s events andactivities. Thank you for your endless support and we trust our efforts match your expectations.
Feel free to share your opinions and ideas that could further improve our delivery.
Yours sincerely,Hazli Sham KassimPresident, Malaysian Gas Association

T E A M TA L KThe first quarter of 2017 has been quite intense for the Secretariat, as can be seen in this quarterly update. Westrive to ensure all MGA’s activities are aligned with and fulfil our Vision, Mission and Objectives.
The secretariat's focus for 2017 are as follows;• Ensuring that MGA becomes more visible as the voice of the gas industry and continues to advocate natural
gas.• Delivering the expected value propositions to the members.• Acting as enabler to the Working Committees (WCs), thereby ensuring that all activities are planned and
executed effectively.
The increase in the number of Working Committees (WCs) to 5 from last year’s 3 requires full time coordination inorder to support and ensure that the WCs are active and functioning to fulfil their respective objectives. SarahMusfirah has been appointed early this year as the Coordinator of the Working Committees and tasked to supportall of the WC Leaders.
The Secretariat is constantly scanning for potential collaboration with other organisations. In the first quarteritself, MGA has successfully collaborated with FMM, IEM, MOGEC and MOGSC. In the same quarter, MGA helddiscussions with UTM’s GESS, CAPE and Gerson Lehrman Group on potential collaboration.
