Set out by coach after a leisurely start for
the city of Montreal. Along with Quebec,
Montreal is one of the two most beauti-
ful, diverse and exciting destinations in
French speaking Canada. Set on an is-
land in the St Lawrence River Montreal
is sure to delight. On arrival you check
in to your hotel before having a guided
walking tour which includes cobble-
stoned French colonial ‘Vieux’ Montre-
al, the Gothic style Notre Dame Basilica
and the old port of Montreal. Dinner has
been arranged in old Montreal.

Have a wonderfully scenic and relaxing
coach excursion to the Laurentian
Mountains today with stops in the vil-
lages of St Sauveur, St Agathe-de-
Monts and Mont Tremblant Park. The

Meander through rugged forest-clad
hills and deep valleys rich in flora and a
sanctuary for moose, deer, beavers and
foxes. Dinner tonight is in a local res-

centre and the Byward markets. Admis-
sion to the Canadian Museum of History
is also included. Tonight a celebratory
farewell dinner has been arranged.

After a restful morning you set out in the
afternoon to sightsee around St Johns.
One of North America’s oldest cities, St.
John’s is now the capital and commercial
centre of Newfoundland. Your tour fea-
tures the famous ‘Jellybean Row’ houses
which give this city its distinctive charac-
ter. The vibrant rainbow colours really are
a visual feast. You then visit the fortifica-
tions of Signal Hill from where Marconi
sent his first radio transmission as well as
Conception Bay and Cape Spear, the east-
ernmost point of North America. Return
to your hotel for a cosy welcome dinner.

This morning you visit the Johnson Geo
Centre to explore the amazing life story of
our planet as well as the Titanic Story.
You also visit the Rooms, a cultural centre
which preserves and protects the heritage,
history and culture of Newfoundland and
Labrador. It also offers lovely views over
St Johns. You then continue to historic
Quidi Vidi (pronounced ‘Kiddy Viddy’) a
picturesque fishing village this afternoon.
Admire this rugged, pristine island with

St Johns to Halifax
After breakfast you visit the small Royal
Newfoundland Regiment museum. This
significant collection of archives docu-
ments among other things a connection to
Australia in the deployment of the New-
foundland Regiment to Gallipoli in Au-
gust 1915 to join British and Australian
troops. You then fly to Halifax Nova Sco-
tia where you check in to your hotel be-
fore enjoying a guided tour of the city
including Citadel Hill, Province House,
historic properties and public gardens.

Explore much loved and photographed
Peggy’s Cove on St Margaret’s Bay to-
day. A quaint fishing village, Peggy’s
most famous icon is its 1868 characteris-
tic north Atlantic lighthouse. Next travel
along the Lighthouse route to the authen-
tic UNESCO World Heritage protected
town of Lunenburg on the Fairhaven Pen-
insula. Established in 1753 it is consid-
ered the best surviving British colonial
town in North America. Much like a liv-
ing museum, enjoy Lunenburg’s colour-
ful narrow streets, brightly painted histor-
ic wooden homes, lovely harbour side,
galleries and museums.

Halifax to Baddeck
Travel through the heart of Nova Scotia
today and over the Canso Causeway to
Cape Breton Island. Continue along the
shores of Bras d’Or Lake to the 18th cen-
tury Fortress of Louisbourg a National

Learn of the famous battle that became
the turning point in the Anglo- French
struggle and Canada today. Arrive in the
delightful resort community of Baddeck
this afternoon, the area of which has been
home to indigenous Mi’kmaq, French
and British over many centuries. It boasts
numerous historic buildings, art and craft
galleries and a charming ambience.

Cape Breton Island and St Ann’s
Today you visit lovely St Ann’s for time
at leisure and to see the Great Hall of
Clan’s Celtic museum which displays
Scottish history and culture. The Alexan-
der Graham Bell Museum and the Eska-
soni Mi’kmaq First Nations People Cul-
tural Centre are also highlights. Discover
Baddeck to Charlottetown In the morning you drive via New Glas-
gow to Caribou from where you board
the ferry to Wood Islands on Prince Ed-
ward Island. You then continue to Char-
lottetown noted as the ‘Birth place of
Confederation, and the island’s capital.

Cabot Trail
Follow the Cabot Trail today, a wonder-
ful scenic highlight, into the highlands of
northern Cape Breton Island. The route
curves around windswept headlands and
clings to cliffs that drop in to rocky
coves and beaches. Wind through the
Cape Breton National Park and see the
wide open expanse of the Gulf of St
Lawrence before returning to Baddeck
through the lush Margaree Valley.

This morning you visit Province House
National Historic site and heritage Green
Gables, the Victorian home and idyllic
farmstead of Anne from the famed novel
first published in 1908. Enjoy the beauti-
ful flower gardens and museum before
crossing the 12.9 kilometre Confedera-
tion Bridge to New Brunswick and Am-
herst where you board your overnight
train to St Foy near Quebec.

Arrive at St Foy station this morning and
take a coach to nearby Quebec. Breakfast
is served at your hotel (but room check
later) before having a guided tour of the
old walled city of Quebec. Designated a
World Heritage site by the United Nations
Quebec is unique in North America and

town, Battlefields Park, the Citadel, the
Place Royale and the ornate city gates of
the upper town with your local guide. The
afternoon is at your leisure to explore
‘Vieux Quebec’ or ‘Old Quebec’ where
every house tells a story and every square

Boat cruise and Montmorency Falls
Relish seeing Canada’s oldest city from
the deck of a cruise boat on the St Law-
rence River today. A guide relates the
story of New France and the origins of
Quebec’s most noted landmarks such as
spectacular Chateau Frontenac, Cap Dia-
mant, Ile d’Orleans and Montmorency
Falls which is about 12 kilometres down-
stream from Quebec City. The falls are
higher than Niagra at 83 metres. After
returning by coach you are free to relax
and explore.
