• Pseudofolliculitis barbae, or razor bumps, is a frequently occurring irritation that is a result of shaving.
• When hair is shaved, it begins to grow back. Instead of coming straight out of the follicle, curly hair has a tendency to curl back into the skin.
• This results in a person suffering from an itchy and red skin. If the area becomes infected, then the razor bumps appear like papules or pustules.
• This problem can be taken care of through various razor bump prevention tips. Prevention is the best way of staying away from this problem.
What are razor bumps?
Ways to get rid of it• Stop shaving all together and let the hair grow• Change what you shave with you may be allergic to
certain type of razors• Prepare your face for the shaving experience (wash
and apply a hot cloth for more than a minute)• Invest in a safety razor* and learn how to use it
properly (£20+)*• OR invest in a cut-throat razor and learn how to hone
it, strop it and use it.(£5+)• OR get a shavette which combines safety razor and
cutthroat design – no need to strop or hone it.• Toothbrush trick – dip a clean toothbrush into warm
water and scrub the affected area twice per day.
• Safety razors need double edged blades
• Get your shave mug and shave soap or foam*. Lather until it into a thick foamy paste with you shaving brush.*
• Use a badger hair brush.
Use a sharp, clean razor

Use the three pass method
• If you have a heavy beard growth: • 1) The first pass in a downward motion with
short, firm strokes • 2) Second pass would be short stroke from
your ear towards your nose• 3) Third pass would be upward strokes for a
close shave
Please note: Irritation can be caused by multi-directional strokes on low and light beards
that do not require 3 passes.
DO NOT FORGET
• Moisturiser or Shave balm – apply to ease the dryness of the skin then aftershave should be used later on AFTER the skin is no longer raw from shaving.
