Why should you do it?
Having an energy literate workforce will make your business more energy ecient. This will have a significant impact in reducing your operating costs and lowering carbon emissions.
Your company will also be appreciated in industry for being a recognised low energy company. In addition to the obvious energy saving benefits, we all have a duty to protect our planet, this course will help you achieve both those objectives
The Energy Eciency Ratio
Energy eciency is often seen as a process of replacing inecient products with ecient products; however this seems a simple view of a complex problem. A simple ratio has been adopted by the Energy Managers Association (EMA) as a guide to understanding how energy eciency can be valued.
The three main elements of energy eciency are energy ecient product, building control systems and behaviour change. Allocating importance to these three areas is a degree of guess work, however the general consensus amongst experienced energy managers is that the 40:20:40 split is a fair estimate. The reason for promoting this ratio is that many decisions to achieve energy eciency are often based on only one part of the ratio, with two remaining elements ignored.
