Iowa Core Music Standards

PreK-6th General Music
Music Schedule:Ed White: Classes meet every other day for 22 minutes.Neil Armstrong & John Glenn: Classes meet two days out of a four day rotation for 22 minutes.
Alan Shepard & Virgil Grissom: Classes meet one day out of a four-day rotation for 45 minutes.
Special Events 4th grade students get ready to attend Quad City Symphony Day.
Special Events6th grade classes visit the Figge Art
Museum and the River Music Experience.

North Scott Junior High Orchestra - The orchestra program first started at the junior high level in Fall of 2007 - Students begin orchestra the first day of school as 7th graders- Orchestra meets every day for 42 minutes- Students receive small group instrument instruction for 40 minutes once every 6
school days- 7th grade performs 3 concerts per year plus an individual solo performance- 8th grade performs 4 concerts per year plus an individual solo
- We currently have over 75 students participating in Junior High Orchestra; this is an increase from the original 9 students that first enrolled in 2007
North Scott High School Orchestra
- Students continue from Junior High Orchestra or move in from other districts and create a grades 9-12 High School Orchestra class
- Class meets for a full block every B day- Students receive 5 lessons per quarter at 15 minutes each- We perform 4 concerts per year, participate in Small Group and Large Group
Contest and offer smaller Chamber groups and quartet opportunities
- We currently have over 50 students participating in High School Orchestra; our first high school orchestra started in 2009 and had 12 members
