How to use Solfege

We use solfege as a way to show and hear intervals

The intervals are based on the Key Signature

On our next few slides they will all be intervals from C (Do)

Hand Signs

Hand signs allow us to have:

Relative highness and lowness Reminders of sounds Cause students to listen to others and

themselves

Do – Fists at your Belly button

Re – Triangle around your Belly Button

Mi – Palms down and Flat

Fa – Thumbs down

Sol – Palms facing towards your heart

La – Eats the sol (almost at shoulders)

Ti – Almost a triangle pointing in
