Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is Summertime! There is energy in the air which
seems to encourage life and growth. Since we are now
under new guidelines for Covid-19 restrictions, people are
ready to get back to normal. School has ended for the
summer, vacations are being planned and the heat may be unbearable at times, but
we still need to grow in faith everyday of our lives. This is a glorious opportunity
for us in many ways. The pace of life slows down, and even if only for a short
respite, this slower pace feels kinder and gentler to our souls. As a Christian and a
Pastor, I view the summer as a special time to experience God's love for us.
One of the ways this summer to grow in faith we will be meeting every
Wednesday starting in July until the end of August for outdoor services called,
“InsideOut Church.” Bring your lawn chairs and come to eat hot dogs, hamburgers,
chips and drinks and continue your faith journey with us this summer.
Have a safe summer, grow in faith and be kind to one another. The love that
Christ has for us is endless, so the same love to all people.
Blessings,
Pastor Woody

WE'RE GOING SILK! - Beginning June 2021, we will be
transitioning to using silk floral arrangements on the altar. It has
come to our attention that our fresh flowers have triggered some
medical issues within our Heidelberg family. We have been
experimenting with floral placement, but think it best to utilize
silk arrangements at this time. Our apologies for anyone that has
already signed up for 2021 flower sponsorship. As always, an
alternative to recognizing someone or a special occasion is the option to sponsor the weekly
bulletins. If interested, donations will be gladly accepted to help defray the cost of various
seasonal sets of silk floral arrangements, estimated at $50/set. Please place donations in
the offering plate, marked 'Silk Flowers'. Checks should be made payable to 'Heidelberg
Union Altar Guild'.
Any questions, please contact Cheryl, Eleanor, Linda, Sharon, or Sydney.
UPDATE FROM PASTORAL SEARCH COMMITTEE - The Pastoral Search committee has
been working diligently over the last few months on compiling all the necessary information
for our Local Church Profile. In the next few weeks we will be finishing up the document and
submitting it to the Conference and Synod for their review and approval. Following the
approval of our profile, the committee will then complete a mock interview with a current
clergy member as a “pretend candidate.” After the mock interview takes place, the position
will be posted and we will begin interviewing candidates for our Full Time Settled Minister.
We are excited to be so close to completing the document that will serve as Heidelberg’s
resume, if you will, to potential candidates.
INSIDEOUT SERVICES - Starting on July 7th, 2021 we will be
having outdoor worship and fellowship every Wednesday until
August 25th! Beginning at 7:00pm we will be providing hot dogs and hamburgers on the front porch, followed by a worship service in the
small parking lot. Come wind down each Wednesday this summer with your Heidelberg family, and don’t forget to bring a lawn chair!
DONATING ELECTRONICALLY - Did you know we offer the option to donate electronically to
Heidelberg Union Church? You can have your offering sent in complete confidence to Heidelberg Union Church through our EOffering program! All you need to do is log on to
www.MyEOffering.com and click “register” to create an account or “sign in” if you already have an account! Once you verify your email address you can log in and search for
Heidelberg Union Church under the “Churches” tab. From there you can do a one time payment, or schedule offerings however you would like! Your mode (Checking, Savings, or Credit Card) of giving is only known to “MyEOffering.com”. If you need any assistance please
contact Kelly Mahoney at 484-258-4414 or Ron Klevenhagen at 610-481-9803.

We now have an enter and exit flow pattern for the lot and curbing along Irvin Road for safety. We truly are
CHILD CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS - In Pennsylvania, volunteers 18 years and older who
work with children must complete clearance documentation and provide copies of that
documentation to Heidelberg Union Church. This includes anyone volunteering with Faith Formation, Vacation Bible School, and/or Family Promise. Updated documentation must be
provided every 5 years. Contact Barb Weaver ([email protected] or 610-767-5187) for instructions on how to obtain these clearances and/or if you're unsure your clearances need to be updated.

Power of Prayer By: Barbara M. Matthias
“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
-Matthew 21:22
As some of you know, when I worked, I was a professional nurse, working in management.
As a result of my job, I had the privilege to meet and work with many CNA’s. Some became close friends; others were a mere passing acquaintance. One of these close friends I will call
Sadie. When I first learned of Sadie’s recent hospitalizations and surgeries I was
devastated. From January to the middle of March, she was in and out of the hospital continuously with lengthy stays. She had serious infections to her right lung (MRSA and
Strep) and on in her lower back. The medications used to treat these diseases counteracted each other and Sadie’s weight began to plummet, losing 28 pounds in short order. Her
appetitie was gone. Sadie was a “sick chick!” I cannot stress that enough. She came home
March 19th (trying to recover). As soon as I learned of her predicament, I began my prayer vigil, asking everyone I knew to pray for her.
On the night of Memorial Day, I decided to call Sadie expecting the worst in return. When she told me all her infections were healed and that she was planning on returning to work the next day, I almost dropped my cell phone. Sadie had been healed through the power of
prayer, praise the Lord! We continued our chat, with me making plans to visit her (she lives in Florida). Folks, the power of prayer does work. If you have insurmountable problems,
pray about them. The Lord will show you what He can do, if you have faith, for a resolution.
“Happy are those who take refuge in the Lord.” Psalm 34:8. You’ll be glad you did.
SURPRISE PORCH POP UP'S!
Nothing has been harder during this pandemic then not being able to see each other.
So in the spirit of bringing us together, be prepared for a Surprise Porch Pop Up! Each month, at least 2 members will get a
little surprise dropped off to them. It may be for a Birthday, Anniversary, Get Well or a simple Hello.
Hi Everyone!! The Porch Pop Up's continued with our April Pop Ups! We visited Brenda Graver (Not Pictured) and Matt Loch! In May Dale Zellner was visted at Fellowhip Manor, it was a beautiful day spent outside enjoying the change of
scenery. We also stopped in at Harlan Wanamaker at Cornerstone Living! Some fellowship time was enjoyed and Linda was able to give him communion which was much appreciated!
Will you be next? Stay Tuned!!

Pictured above is the 21 Gun
