Dear Readers!
The zealous campaign “Sadhana Se Siddhi ki aur”– has provided the beacon of light to the Silverliners
as a plethora of endless activities marked the endless dimensions of growth for the teachers and the taught. The essence of this philosophy has been attaining bliss through dedication surrounded by the global essence of life with ‘passion’ and ‘purpose’ defining the ceaseless efforts.
Under the able mentorship of Dr. H.N. Dutta (Ex Scientist NPL) who is the advisor and guide for all innovative projects for Silverliners showed a great enthusiasm to participate in various projects.
Nature holds the secrets of knowledge and through curiosity humans slowly accumulate this understanding and knowledge. In my humble endeavour to undertake the training to study Antartica and the miracle of natural forces I have brought back wisdom and experience to my students and teachers. The camera shoots of nature in all its splendour is a visual treat and an enriching learning experience for all.
Holistic education through a combination of challenging activities like Vigyaan Vidhyarthi Manthan, a panorama of Co-Scholastic activities and the victories on the sports ground culminated in bidding ‘Adieu’ to the passing out batch of class XII students. Our alumni carry into society the legacy of the school culture – tireless striving stretches its arms towards the ‘perfection’ of ultimate bliss and happiness.
With every completion of an academic session glorious hues spread light and hope in the lives of people associated with ‘Silver Times’ through countless ways. We pray and promise to continue to grow gloriously with the strong and steady support of all the stakeholders.
Jai Hind!

Fried food affects your food controlNew research has suggested that having fried food affects a part of your brain which controls your food habits. It could suggest why some people are not able to avoid having certain types of food even though they are aware of the negative effects. So, next time, you want to have lard or butter or any other fatty food, remember that your brain will not be able to control that next helping.
A t-shirt that indicates air pollutionHow would you like to wear a t-shirt that can indicate how polluted the air around you is? The t-shirt, designed by Aerochromics, can measure the levels of three air pollutants – carbon monoxide, particle pollution and radioactivity. The t-shirts under polluted conditions will change colour and under more extreme pollution levels will reveal a pattern. These t-shirts don't come cheap though – they cost $500 each. The message though is to highlight the dangerous environments we live under and the importance of acting quickly to recover to normalcy.
No helmet, no fuelKerala is impementing a new rule which would impose stiff penalties on two wheeler riders who do not wear a helmet. One of the options being considered is to refuse fuel to the offenders. The move which was to take effect from August 1 has now been postponed by 2 weeks as a grace period. Earlier, the Kerala government implemented a 'fat tax' to discourage the sale of fatty food.

Quest to explorethe White Continent!
In the field of education, there is no limit of studies
and to acquire knowledge and both the students
and teachers have to be always open to acquire
understanding. Nature holds the secrets of knowledge
and through curiosity, humans slowly accumulate this
understanding or knowledge.
Due to this inspiration, Dr. Mala Kapoor-Principal of
Silver Line Prestige School has studied many areas
over the globe in the past so that students get detailed
information or knowledge about the geography of
these areas, language spoken, customs, weather, history
and prevailing natural processes and multiplicities.
Dr Mala Kapoor has not only studied the miracles of
the mighty Antarctic continent created by the natural
forces but has captured these wonders in her camera
Dynamic Principal Dr. Mala Kapoor crosses a new milestone…DIRECTOR PRINCIPAL OF SILVER LINE PRESTIGE SCHOOL CARVES A NEW HISTORY
during Antarctic expedition in December, 2017. By
undertaking this heroic Antarctic Expedition, Dr Mala
Kapoor becomes the first principal of a school to elevate
her school, state and country by undertaking various
trainings to study Antarctica. In this expedition, she has
studied weather, ice, environment, effect of sea and air
on landmasses and various interaction of Antarctica and
captured these processes and phenomena on a camera.
On her return from Antarctica, Dr Mangala Vaid-Vice-
Principal of the school, all other teachers and students
accorded a warm welcome to Dr Mala Kapoor, creating
an excitement and euphoria among students to work
in this distant home of ice. Addressing the students, Dr
Mala Kapoor gave a detailed description of Antarctica
and urged students to undertake bigger challenges.

Endless dimensions exist in a school and there are endless ways to depict the creativity. Among students, once the creativity reaches to a certain levels, students desire to display their efforts so
that their proud parents, respected teachers, fellow colleagues and distinguished judges evaluate their efforts, creativity, energies etc. to guide the right path or direct their efforts in specific channels or directions. It is a way to rejoice together and show to the world the collective strength in managing big affairs-after all we have to establish at the global levels.
With this aim in mind, students from classes 6th to 8th organized a Mega Exhibition on January 20, 2018 in which students displayed their creativity, innovative approaches and dedicated efforts in the form of 120 projects covering more than 15 major subjects. It was a wonderful display of Co-ordinated work by students and teachers.
Mega ExhibitionA unique Logo was designed for the Exhibition. The logo depicts a Sanskrit word “SIDDHI” written half in Sanskrit and half in English surrounded by the global essence of life surrounded by the endless efforts in various directions of life. This logo is the ultimate and true depiction of the spirit and desire of a dedicated student- Sadhna se siddhi ki aur (Attaining the ultimate bliss through dedication, attaining ultimate power through persistent

efforts, complete fulfillment of desires through the path of devotion, and what not).
This logo also symbolizes the struggle between the “Desire” and “Deserve” and it implies that every desire can only be achieved through dedication, devotion, persistence and commitment. As a student, a desire is a motivational force guided by our teachers but individual innovations are always there. After all, in a changing world of technology, many students know much more than their teachers and this is the ultimate goal or bliss for a teacher-disciple to be mightiest in the world.
Another prominent contribution by the students has been the formation of a Single Girl Child Club in SLPS under the name ‘Sneha” and a unique logo has been developed by all the single girl child students studying in SLPS.
This affectionate, colorful, Hindi-English creation in developing unity among SGCS is the answer to the prevailing social system in the country.
Another remarkable contribution was to elevate ‘Digital India” wherein all the 120 projects were presented through power point presentations-each loaded on a laptop. Similarly, ‘Make-in-India” was very well depicted by undertaking development of entire hardware and software by the students through their innovative zeal and creations.
It was beyond imagination to see that students had directed their imaginations in developing projects under Art, Biology, Hindi, English, Chemistry, Computer Science, Commerce, Geography, History, Medical Science, Music, Physics, Social Science, Sports

Rajma, also known as red kidney beans, is a rich source of protein and, is the most preferred lentil for growing children. This nutritious bean is soaked overnight and boiled to make a delicious roll along with green leafy spinach.
An instant and easy to make roll, the boiled rajma, and spinach is a healthy option for children’s lunchbox and is delightfully rich in taste and color.
Preparation:To make the filling
1. Heat oil in a large nonstick saucepan, and add the cumin seeds.
2. After the seeds start to crackle, add a pinch of asafoetida along with finely chopped onions and cook for 2 – 3 mins on medium flame.
3. Now add the ginger-garlic paste along with Kashmiri chili powder, coriander powder, and turmeric powder. Cook until the onions turn light pink in color and the raw flavor of the spices fade away.
4. Add the finely chopped tomatoes along with 1 -2 tbsp of water and cook for 2-3 mins, until the spices mix well with the tomatoes.
5. Now, add the boiled rajma along with salt and stir well. Cook for another 2 mins before adding the chopped spinach and coriander leaves. Mix well, close and cook for 3 mins and check for salt, and remove from heat.
For the rolls
1. Divide the rajma filling to 3 equal portions.
2. Place the roti on a flat surface and evenly spread a tbsp of tomato ketchup.
3. Now place a layer of thin sliced onions and a portion of the filling on the roti. Now roll it tightly and keep aside.
4. Cut the rolled roti into half, wrap them in a food foil wrap, and do the same for the remaining rolls.
Nutritional and health benefits:
These mini- bite sized rolls would satisfy the hunger pangs for children, besides providing a rich source of proteins, omega fatty acids, and fiber. Rajma is easy to digest and spinach is highly rich in iron and antioxidants, which strengthens the immune system for growing children and keeps them healthy and active.
Notes:
• Fried paneer cubes can be used in the place of spinach.• Mint chutney, cheese spread and yoghurt can be used as a spread instead of tomato ketchup
• This roll can be made using cooked sprouts and mushrooms as well.
