Global Strategy 2020• The University of Nottingham’s vision for the year
2020• Two core strategies:
1. Excellence in Education and Student Life2. World-changing Research
• Goals and actions– “Putting students at the heart of our University”– “Providing facilities – physical and digital – which
support students in actively taking part in University life”
Project Transform• Large scale project to lay the foundations
for achieving excellence in education and student life
• What does Project Transform mean?– Changing the way that the University manages
information we hold about you to improve the student journey
– Introduction of new Student Service department, service centres and online self-service system
Project Transform
• Why do we need Project Transform?Today:• Lots of different
systems for managing student data
• Fragmented/disjointed• UK/China/Malaysia –
disconnected• Different experience of
university life depending on Faculty/School/Department
After Project Transform:• One global system for
managing student data across all campuses
• Greater consistency in services and access to support for all students
• Platform to build and develop physical and digital support and services
Improving service delivery and access to student services
Improving service delivery and access to student services
• Lots of talented, dedicated staff across the university
• Together we can share best practice and deliver the best results for you
• You didn’t come here to complete administrative tasks – we want to lighten the load and help you focus on study and extracurricular activities
Student Service Centres• As part of the new Student Services organisation
we will be creating new facilities on each of our campuses.
• These will be known as Student Service Centres and will expand upon and replace the existing locations in The Portland Building (University Park), the Amenities Building (Jubilee) and the Main Building (Sutton Bonington).
• The new locations will be as follows.
Student Service Centres
• There will also be smaller satellite offices in City Hospital, Royal Derby Hospital, and Humanities.
Any Student, Any Centre• Any student will be able to go to any
Service Centre and receive the same level of service that they would at another centre
• This means that if your home campus is Sutton Bonington, but you happen to be visiting University Park and would like to get some admin sorted while you’re there, you can do this and staff will have access to your student record
What can I do at the Student Service Centres?
• You will have the opportunity to access a variety of administrative services including registration, module enrolment, fees and finances, and a range of student support
• The service centres will also provide a gateway for you to access services such as academic services and disability support
Student Service Centre identity
Student Service Centre identity
We have developed a full range of icons to guide you to services
These icons will be used in both the virtual and the physical elements of student services
Student Service Centre identity
We have a colour palette that will be used to visually organise services
Student Service Centre layouts
Accessibility• We want to make these important services
as accessible to you as possible, which is why we will have Student Service Centres on each of our campuses
• With this in mind we will also be introducing an online system for you to access these services in a self-service fashion
• This will be accessible at any time from any device and will offer some of the main services that you’ll find in the Student Service Centres
MyNottingham
• It will be personalised to every student, meaning that it will show you information that is only relevant to you
• Over to Charlotte to give you a quick demo of how MyNottingham will work
